The new 2021 Buick Enclave is not bringing any radical changes. The company is focused on other projects and the premium SUV is coming mostly unchanged. Well, the GM added the new trim level and the Avenir is the freshest thing in the market.
The mid-size SUV is pretty practical and that is the main reason why buyers are buying it. Still, there are some lacks we would like to see fixed for the upcoming edition. Engineers are probably not adding another unit. The 2021 Buick Enclave sticks to a current V6. It rides well, though, but the fuel consumption is not so great. Also, there are several other rivals that offer better towing capacity, while Toyota Highlander and Ford Explorer are available with hybrid engines.
Enclave is a mid-size SUV that fits somewhere between standard and luxury division. It is a seven-seater with a modern look. But, some features fans could expect as standard might come only as parts of higher trim levels or optional purchases. The new edition of the SUV will be available for purchases in the final quarter of the season.
2021 Buick Enclave Specs
Under the hood of the 2021 Buick Enclave will be a V6 unit that is capable to produce 310 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque. The SUV is not offering any kind of alternative, and it is a major downside. Still, next season we could see a turbo-four or a V8 engine. But, these are only speculations. Meanwhile, a 3.6-liter displacement is mated to a nine-speed automatic gearbox that sends power to front wheels. A start/stop system Buick is offering with Enclave is one of the best in the market. If you need more traction, an all-wheel drive is an optional upgrade. Anyway, it is not going to affect overall towing capacity, which is 5,000 pounds. A V8 could improve this number.
V8, Turbo-Four, Hybrid
There are a lot of possibilities for the upcoming redesign of the Enclave SUV. The vehicle is probably not getting any serious upgrade under the bonnet for 2021, but after that, we expect a huge redesign. The carmaker will refresh both styling and the engine room. The new powerplants could become smaller or larger blocks. For example, GM could exploit a 4.3-liter V8 drivetrain, currently available on the Silverado truck. It comes with more power and the SUV would gain extra off-road energy.
On the other hand, a turbo-four could turn the Enclave into a sporty model. Slightly less power, but better efficiency are advantages of this move. But, General Motors needs to think green and develop the hybrid engine if they want to be competitive in this market. More and more SUVs are based on such drivetrains and GM is losing pace with Toyota and Ford.
Trim Levels and Equipment
The base 2021 Buick Enclave will show up as the Preferred model. A standard package is offering LED headlamps and 18-inch wheels. Power tailgate, parking sensors at the back, and heated front row are making even the entry-level version premium. Plus, buyers can find Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integrated into the infotainment system.
The other two models are standard for Buick cars. These are Essence and Premium. The first one is adding leather seats and satellite radio. The lack of driver-aid features is fixed for this version, with a blind-spot monitoring system and lane-change warning added. Premium version heats front and second row of seats, and steering wheel. Both parts are adjustable. The automatic braking system upgrades the safety, while the infotainment is on the higher level thanks to the Bose audio and navigation.
2021 Buick Enclave Avenir
Avenir is the latest and the unique package for the 2021 Buick Enclave. The company makes the appearance more aggressive with large 20-inch wheels. The sunroof is also added, while premium details, such as wooden trim on the steering wheel and genuine leather seats are also part of the package. Finally, there is a wireless charging available in Enclave Avenir trim.
Seating Capacity and Dimensions
The 2021 Buick Enclave will be a seven-seater with captain’s chairs available for the middle row on Premium and Avenir models. Total cargo space of this SUV is 96 cubic feet with all seats folded down. Behind the third row, you will have 23.5 cu.ft. and that is an excellent result for the mid-size SUV. Captain’s chairs will provide more space for passengers in rear rows.
Enclave is longer than some full-size SUVs. Its wheelbase is 121 inches and overall length 204 in. The vehicle is also going to be 79 inches wide and 70 in high.
2021 Buick Enclave Prices
The base version of the 2021 Buick Enclave will cost $40,000. Have in mind that SUV is larger than most rivals and it comes with advanced equipment right from the base offer. All other versions are packed within a $15,000 difference. The most expensive model is Avenir.
