2021 GMC Acadia changes

After the facelift, the 2021 GMC Acadia is not taking huge changes. We still hope that the midsize SUV is going to get a hybrid drivetrain. On the other hand, there are three different engines available for the Acadia. Plus, the offer is richer for the AT4 off-road package. If the GM goes even deeper, this model could also get a diesel unit with more torque than ever. On the other hand, General Motors needs a response to Ford’s latest Explorer with the hybrid unit.

The 2021 GMC Acadia will be pretty spacious and it is one of the reasons why people is going to buy it. The SUV seats seven persons and tows up to 4,000 pounds. So, there are many other similar vehicles with much higher potential. The diesel unit could improve it for the upcoming Acadia. The infotainment system is updated and enhanced. Even at lower trim levels, a buyer will find five USB ports, and if you want to spice it up with a higher-end model, you might get the HUD.

2021 GMC Acadia Specs

The base drivetrain for the 2021 GMC Acadia will be a naturally-aspirated four-cylinder. Many carmakers are using small displacements to lower the starting price. A 2.5-liter engine is going to produce nearly 200 hp and 190 lb-ft of torque. With such configuration, the SUV can’t haul more than 1,000 pounds. A nine-speed auto gearbox sends power to front wheels. Eventually, buyers can pick an all-wheel drive.

The same options are available for the more powerful turbo-four setup. In this case, there are 230 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. Still, the twist reaches the peak at a lower rpm rating with a 2.0-liter version. This one is replacing the previous one on SLT and Denali models.

The most powerful engine in the lineup is a 3.6-liter V6 with 310 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. The larger mill is not wasting too much more fuel. In the matter of fact, all three units are returning the same mileage on the highway – 27 mpg. Of course, a V6 suffers the most in urban areas. There, it cannot beat 19 mpg, even with the Active Fuel Management system. The good thing about it is the increased towing capacity, but 4,000 pounds is far away from class leaders.

Diesel or Even Hybrid is Possible

One of the solutions could be a diesel engine. General Motors is using a pair of Duramax units. A mid-size SUV would definitely go after the larger one, a 3.0-liter turbodiesel. Better towing records will be there thanks to 280 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque. The mileage also jumps. On the heavier trucks, it can be 30 mpg. The mid-size SUV could get a few miles more.

Well, if you want a more efficient and economical vehicle, then the 2021 GMC Acadia Hybrid might draw your attention. Rumors say that the package is being prepared. Acadia is not one of the most important models in the lineup, especially with a way more popular Chevy SUVs. Still, it will follow the footprints of its twin with a bow tie on the front grille.

2021 GMC Acadia AT4 and Denali Models

Let’s skip entry-level models and go to the best the money can buy. There are two versions of the 2021 GMC Acadia that will go to extremes. If you like posh things and advanced features, then the Denali is the right model. Well, this package takes the top spot in every GMC vehicle. There is no difference for Acadia. The mid-size SUV will get 20-inch wheels and darkened theme from the outside. Inside, leather seats also offer to heat, while front buckets are ventilated. Navigation becomes standard, as well as the Bose audio. A lighter and more affordable option is SLT, which comes with two grades of equipment.

If you want to spend more time off the road, then the 2021 GMC Acadia AT4 is the model. The SUV is lifted, which provides more space under the body. Plus, the special 17-inch wheels are wrapped with all-terrain tires. Active twin-clutch system boosts the all-wheel drive, standard for the AT4. A V6 power will help you take down obstacles on the way.

The 2021 GMC Acadia will be one of the popular SUVs. The midsize segment is in the expansion. Last year, the company sold 100k units, which is the second-best season in a 15-year long career. General Motors won’t give up on Acadia, which is one of the most popular units with the GMC badge. In the matter of fact, after a quiet 2021 season, we expect big changes on the 2022 YM. The carmaker announces an electric SUV. Who knows – one of these batteries could be on the way for the 2022 Acadia. Still, it is definitely going to push the price from the expected level. Currently, the base SUV won’t be more than $31,000. Well, if you are after Denali trim, then expect the price of a luxury SUV, such as Lexus RX or Lincoln Aviator.
