2024 GMC Acadia Redesign, Price, Denali and AT4x Models

It is time for a big redesign. The 2024 GMC Acadia should bring a fresh look and new engines. One of them should be a hybrid if the company doesn’t decide to go straight with an EV. Still, the mid-size SUV made some updates under the hood with the last facelift. A 2.0-liter turbo replaced a naturally-aspirated 2.5-l drivetrain. In the meantime, General Motors launched several electric models, skipping hybrid configurations.

Anyway, the 2024 GMC Acadia will remain a mid-size three-row SUV. Anyway, the default seating capacity is six, and you can use the bench in the middle row to increase it to seven. The cargo space is not so generous until you fold the rear seats. The price will be higher after the redesign. The top trim remains the Denali, like for every other GMC vehicle. If you want to go into adventures, the Acadia AT4X is a perfect choice.

The GM Authority magazine is one of the best sources for information about upcoming vehicles. Their spy photographers caught the test mule of the new Acadia two years ago. But, as you know, the entire automotive industry was slowed down because of the COVID pandemic. We saw debuts of a few GM vehicles, and then the production was put on hold, and models from 2021 were carried over for the 2022 season. Well, a similar thing happened to the new 2024 GMC Acadia. The redesigned SUV was supposed to arrive already this year. But, the pandemic hit hard and the development was put on hold. Then, some other projects became the priority.

Anyway, the time for the new 2024 GMC Acadia is now. What did we see on spy photos? First of all, the vehicle is under heavy camouflage. But, it couldn’t hide the size of the upcoming Acadia. The SUV is bigger than before and it causes further questions – will we see the new model between this one and the smaller Terrain? Since the new generation is an option, there will be massive changes around the body and inside the cabin. As we said, heavy camo is hiding details. We are waiting for the SUV will those panels striped to get any detail. It could happen soon since the premiere is set for the second half of 2023.

Under the Hood

The main source of power for the upcoming SUV remains the same. The company recently replaced an old 2.5-liter mill with a turbocharged 2.0-liter displacement. It was the first step of the redesign. Now, with more power, the vehicle can be larger. A turbo-four engine is good for 228 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. However, that is not quite enough for a vehicle of this size. A kind of hybrid boost would be welcome. But, General Motors is not so keen on such drivetrains. In a matter of fact, you won’t find any hybrid setup in their portfolio. But, the upcoming generation is coming with a clean electric motor. One of those will be available for Acadia, no doubt.

Another option is a V6. It makes the SUV a bit more expensive. But, it also adds power. The vehicle with this unit is able to deliver 310 hp. A 3.6-liter mill is one of the most reliable engines in the market and GM is using it for many flagship vehicles. It also produces 271 lb-ft of torque and helps Acadia increase the towing capacity. Still, the SUV should be doing better than 4,000 lbs. A nine-speed automatic gearbox is sending power to front or all wheels, at your choice.

There are two lines of the vehicle that will be under the spotlight after the redesign. You will have the choice to choose between utility and luxury. The Acadia AT4X is an off-road oriented SUV with great capabilities to overcome every road and weather condition. On the other hand, the 2024 GMC Acadia Denali is a luxury package with many advanced systems and features. well, the SUV is already considered as a nearly-premium class member. With the Denali upgrades and the price, it definitely is one of the luxury SUVs.

The AT4X is a successor of the AT4 model. Of course, engineers upgraded systems to make the SUV more capable of the off-road drive. For example, there are special rims and tires, suspension setup, different assist options, and of course, 4×4 as the standard configuration.

On the other hand, the Denali package is focused on premium upgrades. Super Cruise will be standard, as well as extra assistance sensors and cameras. Leather upholstery, a large infotainment screen and an advanced sound system are waiting inside. The upcoming SUV could bring this version under the 2024 GMC Acadia Denali Ultimate nameplate. It is a similar upgrade we saw on the AT4 off-road bundle. General Motors can add adaptive suspension with extra drive modes, a panoramic sunroof and a tow package to make the Ultimate package more attractive.
