It is hard to believe that other companies can catch up with the 2024 Lexus NX. The Japanese premium carmaker delivered a new vehicle this year and cemented its place as the best luxury manufacturer in the automotive industry. The NX crossover has it all – cool styling with an eye-catching effect, a cozy interior full of advanced features, and a wide powertrain range for literally anyone. The NX leaves the rivals in the dust.
It is still early to talk about the first update. The second generation of the crossover is still fresh. Plus, there are a couple of things that will steal the attention. The base engine is not impressive. But, all other choices spice things up. At the top of the range is a PHEV setup with exceptional outputs and gas mileage. The 2024 Lexus NX will also be packed with a safety package that offers many features. One of them is the blind-spot monitor. The company upgraded its infotainment system. The Lexus Interface can now compete with Mercedes MBUX and Audi MMI.
2024 Lexus NX 250 and NX 350
Two base engine configurations are not using electric support. The entry-level setup combines a 2.5-liter naturally-aspirated engine with an eight-speed transmission and front-wheel drive. Outputs are 203 hp and 184 lb-ft. The NX 250 also returns 29 mpg combined. Those numbers are not something special for the premium class.
But, the 2024 Lexus NX 350 improves the image with a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder plant. Now, an 8-pace transmission sends power to all wheels. The engine can gain up to 275 hp and 317 pound-feet of torque. But, it also consumes more fuel, returning just 25 mpg. If this is important to you, then it is better to pick one of the hybrid engines.
Hybrid Configurations: 2024 Lexus NX 350h and NX 450h+
The 2024 Lexus NX will borrow the setup from the best-selling crossover in the world – Toyota Rav4. A 2.5-liter engine is combined with electric engines to produce 239 hp. Also, the company deploys a CVT instead of an 8-speed transmission. The power upgrade is not so huge compared to the gas mileage. The 2024 Lexus NX 350h makes it over 40 mpg. All-wheel drive is standard and the fuel economy will stay at 41/37 mpg in the new season.
The only setup that can beat the 350h is the 2024 Lexus NX 450h+. Everything is pretty much the same as for the regular hybrid, but this time it comes with a plug-in system. First, the total power output reaches 302 horsepower. What is very important – this enhanced setup is not consuming too much more fuel. The combined mileage is 36 mpg. And finally, the Lexus NX PHEV can go by using only the electric motor. The range of this type of drive is 37 miles.
F Sport and Other Packages
Besides a wide choice of engines, the NX lineup also offers a few trim levels to build up the perfect crossover. The start off package is not too bad with 18-inch wheels, LED headlights, roof rails, and power-adjustable front buckets with heating. Optionally, you can add the Tech package with a larger screen, more speakers, and upgraded voice commands.
The Premium trim is a mid-range offer. However, you can find a few valuable upgrades there, such as parking sensors, hands-free tailgate, sunroof, or ventilated front seats. The Luxury model is a high-end option with 20-inch wheels, ambient lighting, leather seats, a huge 14-inch screen, navigation, and HUD. Plus, you can add a panoramic sunroof, a de-icer system for wipers, or Mark-Levinson sound. Surprisingly, a wireless charger is not standard even on the Luxury trim.
The favorite model is still the 2024 Lexus NX F Sport. Unique black wheels are dominating on the exterior. Plus, there are a few more darkened details. The F Sport package is not adding more power, but it makes a ride more comfortable thanks to the sport-tuned adaptive damping suspension and two additional driving modes (Sport S and Custom). This package also brings a different interior impression thanks to the special gauges and sport-bolstered front seats. Optionally, you can also add the Luxury package.
2024 Lexus NX Pricing
Since there are no changes on the 2024 Lexus NX, the price of the luxury crossover should stay put. The base offer starts from $40,000 for the NX 250. All-wheel drive adds $1,600. The NX 350 has this system included in the $4,000 price increase compared to the entry-level version. The F Sport is available for $49,000. Hybrid configuration starts of from $43,500, while the PHEV is another $15,000 investment. In the combination with the F Sport package and individual options, the price reaches $60k. It is not too bad for a luxury crossover with an electric range and 300 hp under the bonnet.
