Envision is all-new. Now, a season after the redesign, the company is adding a special edition, the 2022 Buick Envision GX. Although compact, the SUV will get the third row in its new version. The styling is pretty much the same as for the standard model. There are a few small differences only true fans can spot when two vehicles are compared. The main addition is the third row. Although the size is about to be the same, the rear overhang should be extended. Also, it will be a bit tight inside. Buick will try to make it up with more upscale materials for the interior.
While there are some details different than on the standard model, under the hood we find the same powerplant. It is a turbo-four with some extra power compared to other compact crossovers. Well, the three-row version will definitely need more ponies to provide a smooth ride.

Well, the standard lineup arrived on time, while most other compact crossovers by General Motors had to be delayed because of the COVID-19 outburst. 2022 Buick Envision GX: What We Know so Far?
The new model in the lineup brings a new interior layout. The 2022 Buick Envision GX will be a three-row crossover. This is interesting move for the GM, making a small SUV able to take up to 7 passengers. We can find similar options by other carmakers, but most of these compact crossovers with three rows of seats are available across the sea. For example, Ford Kuga, Nissan Qashqai +2, and VW Tiguan Allspace. Some rumors say Ford could add another bench for its Escape.
There are a few pros and cons. Well, it adds another option. If you don’t need the third row, then you can always buy a standard version. On the other hand, the space is questionable. Room in third rows is always tight and suitable only for children, even when you drive a mid-size SUV, such as Encore. This is the first model by Buick to use the GX badge.
The test mule was spotted recently, unveiling a few more details. The overall look is pretty much the same as for the standard Envision. Small touches on the front grille and taillights will make hardcore fans recognize the GX at first sight. Unfortunately, we don’t have spy photos of the interior. But, there will be third row. Not only passengers in the back will suffer from a lack of space, but another bench will squeeze other seating spots. Under the Hood
While the styling and features are questionable, one thing is certain – the 2022 Buick Envision GX will carry over a 2.0-liter turbo-four engine from its base sibling. The crossover can achieve 230 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. This will be enough for a smooth ride, even when all seats are occupied. A nine-speed automatic gearbox shifts power to front wheels. Optionally, the GX is going to be a 4×4 vehicle. The gas mileage will drop compared to the standard Envision. The compact crossover can return 31 mpg on highways. A larger and heavier sibling will consume more gasoline.
Packages
The 2022 Buick Envision GX will also carry over packages ready for the base edition. That means we will find the three-row crossover in two trim levels. Experts are not sure if the Avenir is coming for any other configuration. The base format is preferred and it uses 8-inch display. The carmaker promised upscale materials, so some leather surfaces could replace cloth. Wireless smartphone services are already there. Even the safety is on the higher level, compared to other GM compact crossovers. You will recognize the Preferred package thanks to 18-inch wheels.
The 2022 Buick Envision GX Essence will bring larger rims and 10-inch touchscreen. Leather is already there. Front seats will be heated and driver’s bucket comes with power-adjusting settings. Dual-zone climate control is added and power liftgate. If Avenir happens, it will install sportier details around the vehicle and inside the cockpit. For example, unique seats design, HUD, massage functions, parking assist with cameras, and many more.
2022 Buick Envision GX Release Date and Price
Test mules are confirming the crossover SUV is going to be available soon. Definitely, the COVID-19 outburst slows down the development, but Envision is the only compact crossover that came out before the epidemic. So, luckily, not entire lineup is put on hold. The third row will increase the price of the vehicle. The base model starts under $32,000 and the GX will probably be available somewhere between $34,000-$35,000.
