FCA relatively recently updated the legendary SUV. It continues to impress with every new edition. The most recent move is to deliver the PHEV model. However, the 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe could be replaced under the spotlight, if the electric drivetrain debuts. Furthermore, the expectations are growing after the Ram 1500 TRX debut. Could the Hellcat engine become the part of the Wrangler’s lineup? Not impossible, but we don’t see it coming in 2022.
Wrangler is one of the best-selling mid-size SUVs. Definitely, this is the first choice of adventurers looking for a 4×4 vehicle. Although big, it comes only with two rows of seats. Distinctive design and open roof are trademarks of this SUV. The 2022 Jeep Wrangler is going to be available with two and four doors. The second one is coming out as Wrangler Unlimited. It uses larger engines, while the two-door version is smaller and more agile.
For the upcoming season, we can expect a few changes. Colors are going to be updated, as well as the engine lineup. Besides the 2022 Jeep Wrangler electric, we can find rumors speaking of the V8 model. Also, Wrangler 392 is the special edition that should draw more buyers, especially youngsters. Rubicon is the best package for an off-road drive. With the Hemi engine, the Wrangler could become unstoppable.
2022 Jeep Wrangler V8 and Electric Motor
The new Wrangler might expand its engine lineup. For now, you can find a wide choice. The entry-level powerplant is a 3.6-liter V6, popular Pentastar. It is not the smallest, but the base SUV will feature the six-cylinder unit with 285 hp and 260 lb-ft. A 2.0-liter four-cylinder unit is turbocharged and creates 270 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. The gas mileage is much better if you need the 2022 Jeep Wrangler for the city cruising. On the other hand, if buyers want maximum power, then a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 jumps in. The SUV is the flagship model and it skips using a smaller displacement. With 470 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque is the most potent unit in the lineup.
That is not all from the standard lineup, since the 2022 Wrangler also comes with a diesel unit. It is the same one we can find under the hood of the Ram 1500 and Grand Cherokee. A 3.0-liter mill is ready to deliver 260 hp and 442 pound-feet. The newest configuration is the Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid. Based on a 2.0-liter turbo-four, the setup is good for 375 ponies and 470 pound-feet of twisting power.
So, what else could be part of the engine squad? We doubt in a 5.7 V8 model. Another eight-cylinder mill is the famous supercharged 6.2 Hellcat. However, this is going to be an option if rivals do something to draw attention away from Wrangler. The electric motor is the next step in development, after the debut of 4xe PHEV. But, it is not going to happen so soon.
2022 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, 392, Colors
Sport, Sport S, Sahara and Rubicon are available trim levels for the SUV. However, you will have to pick first between Unlimited and a two-door model. Sahara is not available with a smaller version. The entry-level package features a part-time 4×4 system and a manual gearbox. The soft top is one of the trademarks, which can be replaced with a solid roof through an optional upgrade. Some features available on the Wrangler Unlimited Sport are available only with the Sport S version of a two-door SUV. For example, air conditioning and LED lights. The bigger version will add power windows and mirrors, as well as larger wheels.
Sahara is a good solution if you love off-roading. But, it is not suitable for extreme situations. That is where the 2022 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon is dominating the 4×4 SUV. Available exclusively with the Unlimited version, Sahara will show you the magic of the off-road ride. All-terrain tires on 18-inch wheels, special shocks, and a special multimedia package make this one perfect for younger drivers. On the other hand, the Wrangler Rubicon upgrades the capabilities with unique Dana axles, rear electronic-locking differential, Rock-Trac 4×4 setup, and electronically controlled disconnecting sway bar.
The 2022 Wrangler 392 is questionable. A huge unit is very interesting, but it doesn’t deliver big things to the lineup. The limited offer is available for the 2021 YM with a 6.4 V8. Instead, a 5.7-liter might replace the bigger displacement for good. Colors available for the 2022 Jeep Wrangler will be pretty much the same. You can choose between these paintjobs: Granite Crystal Metallic, Sting-Gray, Billet Silver Metallic, Bright White, Black, Bikini Pearlcoat, Ocean Blue Metallic, Mojito, Punkn Metallic, Firecracker Red, and probably the most recognizable one – Hellayella.
