The 2022 Mazda CX-30 is an all-new model positioned between subcompact CX-3 and compact CX-5. The Japanese company is not the only one that produces a vehicle for this class. However, there is no too many rivals. You will find only Nissan Rogue Sport and Chevy Trailblazer as potential alternatives.
What makes the CX-30 so special is its styling. Like all its siblings, the crossover comes with an eye-catching front grille. The interior is offering upscale materials. Still, the 2022 Mazda CX-30 is not going to be a premium vehicle. But it is not too far away either.
For now, there are two engine choices. Fans assume that Mazda will be after a hybrid unit as well. But, the ultimate goal is to see the all-electric crossover. Meanwhile, the manufacturer hints about other arrivals. The CX-50 nameplate is in the process of registration. The CX-7 might be back as well, while the CX-70 is the potential name for the new generation of the mid-size SUV. Since the CX-30 is still fresh and doesn’t belong to some of the popular classes, Mazda will probably delay bigger upgrades for the next redesign.
2022 Mazda CX-30 Turbo Engine, Hybrid
The SkyActiv technology is using advanced systems to decrease gases. That is where Mazda vehicles are dominant. On the other hand, the company is not famous for a wide choice of powerplants. But, there are suitable drivetrains for the needs of 2022 Mazda CX-30 owners.
First, there is a base unit, a 2.5-liter four-cylinder mill. Naturally-aspirated, it can produce 186 hp and 186 lb-ft of torque. It is more than the CX-3 can do with its 2.0-liter engine. On the other hand, you will find the same setup on a larger CX-5. That is why experts believe the company will replace the compact crossover with the CX-50 when it gets green light by the USPTO. A six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive are standard configurations, while you can upgrade the ride with an AWD. The gas mileage is at the respective level. The CX-30 is going to return 28 mpg combined and up to 33 mpg on the highway.
If you are looking for more power, the 2022 Mazda CX-30 Turbo adds chargers to the 2.5-liter engine. This way, the outputs reach 227 hp and 310 lb-ft, when using regular gas. We recommend premium fuel which is going to add 23 ponies and 10 lb-ft of torque. The same 6-pace gearbox sends power to all wheels when the turbocharged engine is under the hood. The gas mileage is 22/30 mpg.
In the foreseeable future, the crossover might get reinforcement. Some say the 2022 Mazda CX-30 Hybrid is joining the lineup. Well, the carmaker wants to stay competitive and this kind of unit is already used by rivals. Results are almost incredible since some models already reached 40 mpg.
Trim Levels, Accessories, Grand Touring Package
The base version of the 2022 Mazda CX-30 will be unchanged. The company made a few changes for the current model and the vehicle will be carried over for the next season. That means the crossover is going to use LED lamps. Inside, the highlight is a large 8.8-inch display as the center of the Mazda Connect infotainment. Even the adaptive cruise control is there. The Select package upgrades the offer with dual-zone climate control, which is usually the base option. Still, there is simulated leather to improve comfort, blind-spot monitor for the peace of mind, and 18-inch wheels to improve the styling. Preferred and Premium models bring some high-end options, such as memory seats, power-adjustable for the pilot, and heating. A power moonroof and tailgate are also added. Bose system is supported with 12 speakers.
The turbocharged engine brings further upgrades. We already mentioned the common one – all-wheel drive. Sportier appearance is notable on the base and Premium versions, while the Premium Plus will pack the crossover with high-end options, such as navigation, auto brakes, and a 360-degree camera. Grand Touring trim is top of the lineup version on most Mazda vehicles. It might debut on the 2022 Mazda CX-30 as well.
2022 Mazda CX-30 Colors, Prices, Release Date
Without too many changes, the crossover is going to debut before the last quarter of 2021. The base price stays put. You will have to pay $22,000 for the 2022 Mazda CX-30 without additional options. The CX-30 Turbo is a serious upgrade and skyrockets the MSRP to $30k. With a few optional additions, it will reach $35,000.
Three colors are available when you are buying the base version: Snowflake White, Jet Black, Deep Crystal Blue. Four more paintjobs become available when you select different trim levels: Machine Gray, Soul Red, Sonic Silver, Polymetal Gray. Black cloth is the combination for the interior. Depending on the package, you can choose between black and white schemes and leatherette or leather materials.
