After the facelift in 2020, we won’t see any big changes on the upcoming 2022 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport. The mid-size SUV is available in Pacific Asia, Middle East, and in some markets, it is appearing as the Shogun Sport. Diesel units are the favorite sources of power. Still, in the Middle East, a V6 gasoline unit is the only option.
For the upcoming model, the company might prepare some special packages. Currently, you can choose between five and seven-seater. Depending on the configurations, three trim levels are available – GLX for a two-row model, and GLS and Exceed for the three-row SUV.
The 2022 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport will be 188.5 inches long and an extended version with more seating spots is 190 inches. The size makes the appearance very aggressive, and the latest facelift introduced some new cool features. The seating position is pretty high, which improves visibility. Engineers will have to do something about the ride quality since drivers complained about maneuvering and cornering. If you are buying a seven-seater, the rear row is suitable only for children. But, if you don’t need it, folded seats provide more space for cargo. Pajero Sport is one of the leaders in the market coming to the interior room.
While the exterior appearance is bold, the interior is too classic. The dashboard is plain and there is no something to draw the attention of younger buyers. Well, the center of the infotainment system is a touchscreen display, but you will definitely want to get a larger one. It calls for higher investment.
2022 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Specs
Under the bonnet of the 2022 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, you will most likely find a 2.4-liter MIVEC turbodiesel engine. The inline-four unit is the most popular powerplant and engineers tune it at 133 kW (180 hp). Optionally, another turbocharged I-4 is available at certain markets. A 2.5-liter model will deliver less power – 100 kW (135 hp). You can choose between a manual and automatic transmission. This kind of engine improves power, but the torque is definitely better with a turbodiesel. A hybrid is not in plans yet, although Mitsubishi produces one of the cleanest systems for its Outlander.
Packages
There are two versions of the 2022 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport available in the market. You can either go with a five- or a seven-seater. The two-row version is offered with a single package – the GLX. The Super Select II 4WD is one of the highlights of the trim level, as for any other. This one also includes a forward collision mitigation system and an 8-inch touchscreen. Adaptive cruise control is added after the facelift, as well as the brake auto-hold.
The three-row model adds choices. The GLS is based on the GLX package and adds a few cool features. For example, power tailgate and privacy glass are notable options. Of course, a two-row SUV is the most affordable configuration. It starts around 37,000 USD (48,000 AUD). Fully-loaded, the price of the SUV can reach 50,000 USD. A seven-seater will cost at least 42,000 USD, while the Exceed tops the 50k mark. With the best options available, the price gets very close to 70,000 USD.
