S, SE and SEL trim levels are the base versions of the 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan. The company will add additional packages, such as R-Line. Do not mix it with the performance-oriented Tiguan R. New features, colors, and options are going to be available, making the build more fun.
2022 VW Tiguan R Specs and Upgrades
So, the 2022 VW Tiguan R seems to be the most anticipated model of the upcoming lineup. Still, this one is yet to be confirmed. On the other hand, we can compare it to the most popular car with this package, the VW Golf hatchback. The best-selling vehicle offers an ultimate upgrade. The highlight is a turbocharged 2.0-liter mill capable of delivering 300 horsepower. Engineers could tune it to create even more. Of course, extra power will require support from the drive system. Leading carmakers in the compact crossover segment are Toyota, Ford, Honda, Nissan. Volkswagen couldn’t rival the best-selling models, especially with a poor resale value of an old Tiguan. We will see if the new version is capable to do more than its predecessor. However, it will be hard, mainly because of the single engine choice. For example, Toyota Rav4 is already bringing PHEV configuration, while hybrid versions of Honda CR-V and Ford Escape are class leaders in the fuel economy standards. By moving the production of the Tiguan to Mexico, VW managed to get the price lowered to a competitive level. The redesign will make it go up.
