The 2023 Chevy Tahoe is going to be one of the best big SUVs in the market. It offers plenty of space, powerful engines, safety, superb towing capacity, and even some off-road performance. If you need a bigger vehicle, the long-wheelbase version is the Suburban. The 4×4 drive is optional, and it is best to combine it with the Z71 package. The ZR2 is not coming, but the new member of the lineup could become the Tahoe SS. This is still a long shot, but the SuperSport rumors are being louder recently. If you want a premium SUV, the High Country is going to be slightly cheaper than Cadillac Escalade, a luxury model by General Motors.
Engineers are taking the safe option – the full-size SUV comes with a V8 as the base drivetrain. A larger 6.2-liter is optional, as well as a diesel unit. The company is not going after a hybrid version for the 2023 Chevy Tahoe, since the Hummer electric SUV is the priority. But, the SS can add a very powerful mill to the lineup, with more than 600 hp. This one is about to become a competitor to Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk and Dodger Durango SRT, both with the Hellcat engine.
2023 Chevy Tahoe Diesel and Petrol Engines
Under the bonnet of the 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe will lay a 5.3-liter V8 plant with 355 horsepower and 385 lb-ft of torque. For the base choice, it seems enough. But, if you compare it to Japanese SUVs, Nissan Armada and Toyota Sequoia, Tahoe lacks some power. If you are looking for more juice, a 6.2-liter is an optional drivetrain. But, you will need a higher trim level. If you opt for a larger displacement, the SUV is going to return 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are sending power through a ten-speed automatic gearbox to rear wheels. Another option is a Duramax engine. The 2023 Chevy Tahoe diesel is going to produce 277 hp and 460 lb-ft of twist.
2023 Chevy Tahoe SS
The performance edition of the full-size SUV is going to need even more power. That should be the 2023 Chevy Tahoe SS model. We already have a favorite, but there are a few things that make this version unlikely. A 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine might be tuned for more than 600 horsepower. But, it seems some other vehicles might add the SuperSport badge before the Tahoe. For example, Blazer used to be a high-performance model and now the SUV is back. Also, the Silverado truck needs a version that will compete with Ford Raptor R and Ram 1500 TRX Hellcat. So, Tahoe is not very high on the priority list, but rumors are more frequent.
Other Trims: High County, Z71, Redline
The SUV is going to offer plenty of options. So, most buyers looking for a full-size rig will find a proper configuration. The base trim is going to be packed with a few advanced features. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are standard. The mid-range RST brings the best value. But, if you want high-end options, there are a few models available. For off-roading, the 2023 Chevy Tahoe Z71 is one of the best 4×4 SUVs out in the market. Of course, there are a few other upgrades, such as skid plates, suspension, and increased ground clearance.
If you don’t need the SUV for tough terrains, but you want the most advanced technologies and upscale materials, the 2023 Tahoe High Country brings unique features. Leather upholstery, heated seats, a Super Cruise system, and a mighty 6.2-liter engine will make the SUV a competitor to luxury models. For the new edition, we will see the Redline package as an optional upgrade for the RST or Premier version. This bundle comes with unique exterior and interior details.
2023 Chevrolet Tahoe Price and Release Date
The new generation of the SUV has just debuted. We were waiting for it more than it was initially planned. But, the delay in development and then the COVID-19 outburst brought an all-new Tahoe as 2021 YM. However, the company is not going to update it any time soon, and the focus will be on the special packages. That could be the SS for the 2023 season.
The release date is not set yet. However, we don’t think the fans will see the 2023 Chevy Tahoe before the last quarter of next year. The pricing should stay put. But, it depends on the number of options the SUV is going to reshuffle. The base MSRP starts from $50,000. High Country is a rival to premium models, but you are not getting it for the bargain deal. The Z71 off-road upgrades will add around $10,000 to the base price. But, 4×4 and larger wheels are included. A diesel engine or a 6.2-liter engine also requires about $10,000 investment.
