2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer release date

The 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer will be one of the most important debuts of the upcoming season. There are no too many other SUVs that draw so much attention. We can also mention Hummer electric SUV and the new Lexus LX. But, it seems that Jeep’s vehicle is the most anticipated model at the moment.

The first details about the comeback became official a couple of years ago. Fans expected to see the new Grand Wagoneer already in 2021, but the COVID-19 outburst spoiled the premiere. Also, the company needed more time to finish the development. Now, the 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer is coming out as the premium full-size SUV. If this vehicle is too expensive, a regular Wagoneer will also be available. Sizes of the two SUVs are the same.

The comeback is not a surprise. But, the position in the luxury class definitely is. We thought the Wagoneer would be a model for the full-size SUV segment, sitting above the mid-size Grand Cherokee. Meanwhile, FCA would do the same thing as GM and Ford. Experts believed that the 2023 Grand Wagoneer was supposed to be the long-wheelbase version. Nope. The carmaker wanted a different challenge. Here is what we know so far about the Grand Wagoneer.

Engines

Of course, engineers are not going to make experiments on the flagship SUV. The 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer is using the most potent available powerplant. That is a 6.4-liter V8 Hemi engine with 471 hp and 455 lb-ft of torque. The company never made it official, but this drivetrain could deliver 500 ponies. The new air induction system is added and the configuration includes an eight-speed auto transmission. It sends power to all wheels. A rear-wheel drive is coming in 2023 as well. The gas mileage won’t be fixed, and the SUV consumes a lot of fuel, 13/18 mpg.

A four-wheel drive is special for the 2023 Grand Wagoneer. It is the Quadra-Drive II with slippery terrain detection, which allows the system to send power to each wheel to improve traction. The electronic limited-slip differential is standard as well. Also, there are a few drive modes: Sport, Sand/Mud, Snow, Rock, and of course, Auto.

Current Models Lineup

The first edition is packed with exclusive offers. The 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer is not using trim levels we got used to from the FCA. Instead, the entry-level edition is called Series I. There are also Series II and Series III models, and the Obsidian between those two. No Trailhawk and Trackhawk? It might happen in the future.

Hands-free liftgate, 20-inch wheels, tow hitch and panoramic sunroof draw the attention from outside. Inside, we find leather upholstery, four-zone climate, heated seats in first and second rows, while front buckets come with cooling as well. The new Uconnect 5.0 infotainment system brings a 12-inch screen, digital driver’s cluster, 19-speaker audio, wireless charging, and navigation. There are also plenty of safety features.

Series II adds larger wheels, premium leather, memory seat settings, a digital rearview mirror, and traffic signs recognition system. Optionally, you can pick the Premium Group II equipment. Series III add this package, as well as the Convenience bundle, and Rear Seat Entertainment. Obsidian is basically Series II with black-out themes outside and inside. Plus, there are a few single upgrades, such as premium sound with 23 speakers, a cooling box, and adjustable crossbars.

2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer LWB Spied

Compared to the main rivals, US-built Cadillac Escalade and Lincoln Navigator, the 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer is missing a long-wheelbase version. Not for too long. The company is preparing the LWB model, and Mopar Insiders already found the test mule on the streets. According to sources, the SUV will be 7 inches longer than the standard edition. Maximum cargo space, with all seats folded, is 116 cubic feet. Extra length could bring it to 140 cu.ft.

2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Trailhawk

No other model is more wanted than the 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Trailhawk. We see a unique lineup, but fans miss some old nameplates. Yes, the SUV is already a capable 4×4 model, and it is hard to say what would the Trailhawk bring and what is not there already. Instead, we can think about the Grand Wagoneer Trackhawk edition with a 6.2-liter supercharged engine and 700 horsepower. Jeep would take on the performance and exotic SUVs, such as Lamborghini Urus, Range Rover SV, and Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon.

2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Release Date and Price

All those upgrades for the upcoming 2023 Grand Wagoneer are not so huge, and the majority of the lineup stays the same. But, the SUV is at a great starting point and it can become one of the best premium models in the market. Not only the position in the luxury class surprised fans, but also the price, which starts just under $90,000 for the Series I. The Series III is the most expensive package. But, let’s wait and see if the Trackhawk edition is joining the lineup.
