Some details about the 2023 Land Rover Discovery are already announced. The largest SUV in the non-premium family comes with minor changes. The most notable update we find in the trim levels squad, where you can find the Metropolitan edition at the top of the lineup. The Discovery Sport is a different model. It is a mid-size SUV.
Most experts consider the 2023 Land Rover Discovery as the premium vehicle. It is smaller than most full-size SUVs. Well, some mid-size models are larger than Disco. Still, the price is not as high as the one you pay for the Range Rover or Range Rover Sport.
All in all, the Discovery for 2023 is going to cost slightly more than the previous version. Of course, you get more features and systems. We can’t say that for space behind the second row. The rear bench is suitable only for children, leaving not too much room behind it for cargo. Even with a turbo-four engine, the Land Rover Discovery will perform excellent, on and off the road.
2023 Land Rover Discovery Specifications
Let’s check what makes the 2023 Land Rover Discovery so fun to drive. A 2.0-liter turbo-four is the engine for entry-level configurations. It can produce 296 hp and 295 lb-ft, which is not too impressive for this class. Some non-premium SUVs can deliver higher outputs. Eight-speed auto transmission and all-wheel drive are standard. The gas mileage is not impressive. The SUV can do only 19/22 mpg, mostly because of its size and weight.
A 3.0-liter inline-size unit will make things look better. More power and better gas mileage will be enough for most fans. A six-pot mill can produce 355 hp and 365 lb-ft. How can a larger engine return a better fuel economy than a four-cylinder mill? JLR will install a mild-hybrid system that will allow 2023 Discovery to do 18/24 mpg. Still, compared to the competition, those are not numbers for bragging.
2023 Land Rover Discovery Metropolitan Edition
Next season, we will have a unique member of the lineup. That is the 2023 Land Rover Discovery Metropolitan Edition, which takes place above all other trim levels in the lineup. The R-Dynamic HSE version is being enhanced, inside and out. Bright Atlas theme is available for the grille and “Discovery” text above it. Under the bumper, designers are adding Hakuba Silver details. Diamon Turned wheels are in use. Those are 22-inch alloys with Gloss Grey accents. Contrasting black brake calipers draw even more attention.
Inside, buyers will find HUD and heated steering wheel as standard options. Upgrades compared to previous editions are also heating and cooling for the third row, climate control in four zones, and Titanium Mesh thematic details. Of course, the 2023 Discovery Metropolitan is also carrying over notable features from the R-Dynamic HSE version, such as a Meridian audio system, wireless charging pad, or a roof in contrasting color.
Other Packages
We already mentioned two models, R-Dynamic and Metropolitan. The entry-level model is the Base with LED headlights, 18-inch steel wheels, and roof rails. The company made keyless entry and ignition a standard feature. Front seats are using heating and power-adjusting feature. Cloth upholstery is standard. The S pack is the only package available for the entry-level version.
The R-Dynamic makes it more interesting. First of all, both engines are available. Some say even the V8 is coming soon. Still, the six-pot unit is required if you want the HSE optional package. Highlights of the 2023 Land Rover Discovery R-Dynamic are black contrasting roof, LED taillights, unique bumper design, front and back, and special badges around the body. The HSE adds a few signature details, such as 22-inch wheels, LED lamps.
2023 Land Rover Discovery Prices
The base 2023 Land Rover Discovery is much more affordable than the premium Range Rover. Still, the Disco is more expensive than other mid-size three-row SUVs. The price starts from $57,000. The R-Dynamic adds $3,000, or $6,000 more if you want a more powerful engine. The HSE package is then available as the next upgrade. This combo is worth $71,500. The highest MSRP is for the Metropolitan edition. Before you add anything, the price is already above $75,000. Loaded with premium options, the cost is going to exceed $80,000 mark pretty easily.
