The GTS trim is here, expanding already a wide lineup of models. In the next couple of seasons, there won’t be big changes, since the German company is focused on electrification. So, all the rumors about the 2023 Porsche Cayenne facelift can be written off. The luxury SUV offers plenty of options already. Every trim level is going to bring a unique engine configuration. The vehicle is available with six- and eight-cylinder units. Of course, all turbocharged. Even an electric battery is there to boost outputs. And at top of all – the Cayenne is also available with a coupe body.
The GTS version is the major update and the next refresh is not happening so soon. The current generation dates from 2018. With the COVID-19 outburst, the company is going to slow down with the development of new versions. Still, with the choice Cayenne is offering, there is no need for urgency. We’ll probably see a big redesign, or even a next-gen SUV in 2024-2025.
Base Configuration and Features
Under the bonnet of the 2023 Porsche Cayenne is going to be a turbocharged six-cylinder engine. A 3.0-liter engine is good for 335 hp and 322 lb-ft of torque. It is not a spectacular output, having in mind that regular, non-premium mid-size SUVs can do around 300 hp. A dual-clutch transmission (PDK) is sending power to all wheels. The same engine could perform better. You only need to upgrade it with the E-Hybrid system. With a help of electric motors, the outputs jump to 455 horsepower and 515 lb-ft of torque. The gas mileage is 41 MPGe, or if you use petrol only, then it is 21 mpg. Features you will find in the 2023 Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid are Active Suspension Management, a unique cluster made only for hybrid models. Also, the Sport Chrono package is standard.
2023 Porsche Cayenne GTS
The first appearance of a V8 engine is for the 2023 Porsche Cayenne GTS. A 4.0-liter unit is turbocharged and delivers 453 ponies with 457 lb-ft of torque. Again, the same PDK transmission and AWD are standard drive system. An eight-cylinder powerplant consumes significantly more fuel. But, buyers who pay so much for the luxury SUV don’t care about the gas mileage. Just for info – the GTS version returns 15/19 mpg. And it is not the worst output in the lineup.
Besides a large displacement, the 2023 Cayenne GTS is going to deliver a few upgrades which will make both interior and exterior sportier. For example, the RS Spyder wheels are a set of 21-inchers. Sport exhaust and the exterior package will make the GTS easy to recognize.
2023 Porsche Cayenne Turbo V8
The 2023 Porsche Cayenne Turbo is going to squeeze even more ponies from a 4.0-liter V8 engine. A twin-turbo system is pretty helpful there, making the outputs raise to 540 hp and 570 lb-ft of torque. If that is good news – extra power and twin turbochargers are not going to affect the gas mileage compared to the GTS. But, it will make the price go up through a roof. Air suspension is an upgrade that improves the drive experience. Adaptive LED headlights are added as well, while Bose delivers a premium audio system. All seats are heated.
Turbo S E-Hybrid
At the top of the list, we’re finding the combo of several packages. The 2023 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid is taking the best from its siblings. Of course, there is a twin-turbo V8 configuration, boosted by an electric motor. This hybrid is launching the Cayenne at the top of the most powerful SUV list with 670 hp and 663 lb-ft of torque. Of course, it is one of the fastest and quickest (3.5 seconds for 0-60 mph run).
To handle all this power, Porsche had to develop dynamic chassis control. Also, the Turbo S E-Hybrid offers torque vectoring and carbon-ceramic brakes, as the ultimate performance features.
2023 Porsche Cayenne Release Date and Prices
Having in mind how many features and engines the luxury performance SUV is offering, it is not hard to guess the price gap between models can be huge. The base configuration should be available from $70,000 with a destination fee. That is $20k more than some other luxury SUVs in the mid-size class. The E-Hybrid adds $12,000 and you will pay about $15k got the S package with a 2.9-liter engine. The GTS is already above the $100k mark. Turbo will be available for purchase for under $130,000. The most powerful unit is also the most expensive. Rich fans will have to splash at least $165,000 for the Turbo S E-Hybrid. We will know more about updates and precise MSRPs once the vehicle hits the market. The release date is planned for the final quarter of 2022.
