The 2024 Audi Q5 might be your last chance to get this vehicle with an internal combustion engine. Starting in 2026, the German company will produce only EVs. Well, it seems like a big step to the unknown. Electric vehicles didn’t take over the market yet. It is inevitable, but we believe it is not going to happen so soon.
Anyway, the first spy photos of the redesigned 2024 Audi Q5 are here. The camo indicates there will be a lot of changes on the compact luxury crossover. Also, engineers are revisiting the powertrain lineup. One thing is making us worried – on the spy photos, the 2024 Audi Q5 is being towed by its larger sibling, Q7. Fans hope that the new SUV is not broken, but saved for tests.
Before we see a fully-electric version, we can feel the 2024 Audi Q5 PHEV. The configuration combines electric motors with an internal combustion engine. Still, most fans prefer performance-oriented setups, such as SQ5 with 350 hp. Well, a plug-in hybrid delivers more power, but it is a bit slower in a 0-60 mph sprint. For the 2024 edition, Audi could make improvements.
It is early to say precisely what kind of changes the new crossover is introducing. One thing is sure – the 2024 YM is coming redesigned outside and inside. The time for the update is perfect since the current styling dates from 2021 and the facelift. The current vehicle didn’t bring too many novelties – new color and a few options were added to the standard offer. Now, expectations from the 2024 Audi Q5 are big, especially after the test mule was spotted with camouflage. The company also prepares a few more debuts, so we can compare them to the new Q5.
2024 Audi Q5 Interior
The long-wheelbase version of the crossover was introduced for the latest generation. Nevertheless, the seating capacity remains at 5. It will stay so, even after the redesign. The Q5L is just providing more room at the back, and it is not available in all countries. For the US market, the company focuses on new drivetrains, the PHEV system at the first place.
But, without too many changes for the current edition, the 2024 Audi Q5 interior is probably introducing a lot of novelties. Cruise control is now standard. The infotainment system is going to offer more features. One of the first things you will see is a huge screen, larger than it is now. As the luxury crossover, the Q5 is going to offer plenty of premium options. Premium and Prestige are the base packages, and you can upgrade them with S Line or Plus bundles.
The crossover is using a 2.0-liter turbo engine as the base setup. The four-banger can crack 200 hp and 235 lb-ft of torque, which is not an impressive output. There are some non-premium crossovers with more power and twist. That is why an enhanced version of the Q5 is available. Engineers squeezed 261 hp for the current version, but the next one could be even more potent. The gas mileage in both configurations is around 26 mpg and that is with the Quattro AWD system.
A 3.0-liter V6 is there for the high-end 2024 Audi SQ5 model. The turbocharged version of the engine is producing 350 hp and 370 lb-ft of torque, that makes the crossovers sprint 0-60 mph in just 5 seconds. The gas mileage is not the best for this class. But, for such power outputs, 19/23 mpg is somehow expected. An AWD is also standard. The sportier version of the Q5 is also equipped with special brakes and suspension to deliver the ride this vehicle is deserving.
2024 Audi Q5 PHEV
The plug-in hybrid is more powerful than the SQ5, but it needs a bit more to reach 60 mph from a stop. Still, the main purpose of the 2024 Audi Q5 PHEV is to bring an enhancement to the gas mileage. Thanks to the electric support, the system can return 26 mpg and 61 MPGe. Also, the plug-in hybrid version can use only an electric motor, which will drive you 25 miles after the redesign. The Q5 is also becoming lighter, which leads to improvements. The ultimate goal is to deliver an all-electric version, which should replace all the existing setups after 2026.
Release Date and Price
Since the all-new edition is on the way, Audi will pay special attention to its flagship crossover. On the other hand, bosses don’t want fans to wait for too long. The Q5 will come out in mid-2023 as the redesigned vehicle. The price goes up. The base setup is already one of the pricey compact crossovers with the tag of $45,000. The new model will be very close to $50k, while the optional upgrades can make it go up to $70,000. The SQ5 is the most expensive configuration.
