XT4 is the smallest crossover in the Cadillac’s lineup. The upcoming season will bring modest styling update and a revisit of the infotainment system. The 2024 Cadillac XT4 will be loaded with plenty of advanced options and features. Well, the base price of $37,000 makes us expect a lot. On the other hand, the driving experience is not so great, even for non-luxury crossovers. A 2.0-liter turbo-four engine provides enough power, but the subcompact crossover is not too fuel-friendly.
The 2024 Cadillac XT4 won’t face too big competition. Subcompact luxury crossovers are pretty expensive. Among others, you can also pick Lexus UX, BMW X1, Audi Q3, or Volvo XC40. Three trim levels are still there for the XT4 – the Luxury as the entry-level model, Premium Luxury and Sport.
Pros and Cons
There are personal opinions and buying strategies, but there are also facts about the 2024 Cadillac XT4 that can’t be discussed. For example, the subcompact crossover offers more space than the competition. Well, it is not too generous, but for the small vehicle, the XT4 tops the range. Also, you can’t argue with power outputs. Again, there are more potent configurations, but for larger SUVs.
The bad thing about high-power delivery is higher consumption. Combined 25 mpg doesn’t belong to the subcompact segment. Plus, the XT4 is not too pleasant to drive, especially having in mind this is a luxury vehicle. On the highway, it can be very noisy. The upcoming redesigned model should fix some of those downsides to remain competitive and improve sales numbers.
Under the Hood
The 2024 Cadillac XT4 is coming without a hybrid or an EV drivetrain. General Motors is building a lot of electric batteries, but the subcompact crossover is not a priority right now. The larger Lyriq is an alternative if you are looking for an electric crossover from Cadillac.
So, the XT4 sticks to an old engine. That is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder unit that produces 235 hp and 258 lb-ft. Those are serious numbers for this class. But, buyers are looking for such vehicles because of their gas mileage. And the XT4 is not delivering. You are getting only 23/30 mpg, although there are cylinder deactivation system and start/stop feature. Plus, premium gasoline gets the best from a four-banger. An all-wheel drive is a nice upgrade. The engine is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission.
2024 Cadillac XT4 Packages
The small SUV sticks to the proven combination of trim levels, so there won’t be a surprise for the upcoming season. The 2024 Cadillac XT4 Luxury is the base version. Highlights of the new exterior styling are 18-inch wheels and LED lamps. The package also brings a power liftgate and remote engine start. The leather interior is standard. The infotainment system gets an 8-inch screen, 7-speaker sound, Wi-Fi hotspot, and satellite radio. Safety options are a blind-spot monitor, rear-cross traffic alert and parking sensors. You can add stand-alone options, such as a sunroof, Cold Weather Package, or Driver Awareness bundle.
The Premium Luxury adds a hands-free function for the liftgate. Roof rails are standard, as well as the rain-sensing wipers. Inside, driver’s bucket has memory settings, cabin features interior lighting, and parking sensors are not optional upgrade. This grade offers more additional packages. For example, adaptive cruise control can be found in the Driver Assistance package. Comfort and Convenience bundle adds massage seats. Highlights of the Technology package are HUD, air ionizer and wireless charger. Enhanced Visibility set boosts the safety.
Still, the best trim level will be the 2024 Cadillac XT4 Sport. The price is at a similar level with the Premium Luxury model. However, it is always cool to have a sportier vehicle. The Sport package includes alloy pedals, a gloss black grille and a special steering wheel. Exterior details match the body color. You can also purchase 20-inch wheels, as well as the unique suspension setup with adaptive dampers.
2024 Cadillac XT4 Prices
As the luxury model, the price of the 2024 Cadillac XT4 is a bit higher. But, paying $37,000 for such a small vehicle is not the best buy. You can purchase a seven-seat SUV, or a performance-tuned compact crossover. If you are not happy with the base version, Premium Luxury and Sport grades add $4,000 or $4,500. With additional options, the small crossover can get very close to $50k mark.
