This is the second season of the fifth generation and the company is not planning big changes for the 2024 YM. Still, the big SUV offers plenty of options. There are trim levels with rich equipment, you can choose between luxury and utility, long-wheelbase is an optional upgrade, and mighty engines are under the hood. All in all, if you are looking for a full-size SUV, the 2024 GMC Yukon will definitely have to offer something.
This SUV is a mechanical twin to Chevy Tahoe. But, it is an upscale model thanks to the special interior and exterior treatment. We will mention all the reasons why you should buy the 2024 GMC Yukon. In the first place, there is the performance. Then, the SUV is big and practical. Plus, it comes with great options for an off-road drive with the new AT4X package. Or, if you want luxury, the Denali trim gets upgrades, believe or not, and comes as the Denali Ultimate for the Yukon.
Why Buy 2024 GMC Yukon?
It is hard to find a downside. We can say it is the gas mileage. But, if you want a big SUV with plenty of power, that is the price paid for the best performance. The cost of extra options might be a bit too much. But again, there are lower trim levels available at a reasonable price for the full-size segment. Even a diesel unit is available on the 2024 GMC Yukon. Plus, it is spacious, even in the base form. The Yukon XL increases the cargo space to 145 cubic feet. You will have to look hard to find another model that beats that. We expect the GMC to add the Ultra Cruise instead of the already impressive self-driving Super Cruise system.
2024 GMC Yukon Specs
The selection of engines for the 2024 GMC Yukon is stunning. The base offering includes a 5.3-liter V8 mill with 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. This is going to be enough for most drivers. But, the upgrade comes with a 6.2-liter V8, the standard for the Denali version. The larger mill is ready to burst even more power and torque – 420 hp and 460 lb-ft. The Yukon Diesel matches the twisting power but lacks some power (277 hp). In all cases, a 10-speed automatic transmission is a power router that shifts power to the rear wheels by default. A four-wheel drive is either optional or standard at higher trim levels. In the foreseeable future, the company will develop an all-electric big SUV. We still don’t have the schedule, but the first EVs are already out.
SLE and SLT are two trim levels you find as the most affordable options. Still, for most buyers, $60,000 and $65,000 is out of reach. Plus, the Chevy Tahoe is available with a discount. But, there are several differences, so pay attention. The Yukon SLE comes with a 5.3-liter engine, 18-inch alloy wheels, push-button start, a 10-inch touchscreen, and not so great safety package. Still, you can add GMC Pro Safety Plus with a blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert.
The SLT will improve the offer with 20-inch wheels, a power liftgate, leather seats, a wireless charger, and heated and ventilated seats. A $5,000 is a bargain here and SLT is considered as one of the best buys.
2024 GMC Yukon AT4 and AT4X
The SLT is cool, but there are trim levels that offer better equipment. The 2024 GMC Yukon AT4 is an off-road specialist with a $72,500 price tag. It is a rival to the Ford Expedition FX4 and Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro. The off-road upgrades are a 4×4 drive system, special shocks and suspension, all-terrain tires, hill assist, tow hooks, skid plates… The AT4 doesn’t lack luxury options, so the grade comes with a heated steering wheel and driver’s seat memory settings. The company launched the AT4X version on some vehicles, and we expect it on the Yukon as well.
2024 GMC Yukon Denali and Denali Ultimate
The 2024 GMC Yukon Denali is a luxury SUV, ready to rival other premium full-size models. A 6.2-liter engine is standard. Technology package is standard. Plus, the trim level comes with advanced Bose audio and captain’s chairs in the middle row. Advanced Technology package includes a digital rearview mirror and Super Cruise autonomous drive system. It can be replaced with an even more advanced Ultra Cruise, or it might be exclusive for the Denali Ultimate grade. It already includes most of the premium options, such as Towing package, rear-seat entertainment, or an 18-speaker sound system. There are no many things you can add to this one.
Yukon vs Yukon XL
All those options are also available for the Yukon XL long-wheelbase SUV. It adds 15 inches over the 210 inches overall length of the standard SUV. It results in more space inside the cockpit. Maximum cargo capacity jumps to nearly 145 cubic feet. Well, maneuvering is becoming even more complicated, especially in urban areas. This upgrade will cost you $2,700.
