The largest SUV by the Korean company stays unchanged after the minor update for the 2023 YM. A hybrid engine is the biggest thing fans want to see on the 2024 Hyundai Palisade. The SUV is spacious and potent, but it needs an improvement in the fuel economy segment. That is where the electric support is welcome.
The interior of the Palisade is modern and offers up to eight seating spots. The infotainment system is up to date and the carmaker can deliver only a high-end model to widen up the lineup. Under the bonnet of the 2024 Hyundai Palisade is a 3.8-liter V6 engine. It delivers enough power and torque for the mid-size three-row SUV. Recently, we saw new performance packages for Tucson and Kona crossovers. The Palisade N is not in the mix for now. Hybrid is a priority.
2024 Hyundai Palisade Specs
It will be the fifth year that we can find the mid-size SUV at dealerships. During this period of time, only one engine served as the power source. A 3.8-liter V6 is still a new drivetrain and it creates 290 hp and 262 lb-ft of twist. That is around the class average outputs. We can praise the company for leaving a four-pot mill out of the offer. It is a budget-friendly option, but such an engine can’t drive such a big SUV.
A V6 is sending power to the front wheels through 8-speed automatic transmission. It is also possible to maximize traction and balance with an all-wheel drive. The gas mileage drops from 19/26 to 19/24 mpg in that case. For the best driving impression, the vehicle offers a few drive modes.
2024 Hyundai Palisade Hybrid
The most sought after version is the 2024 Hyundai Palisade hybrid. The Korean company already produces such a version of the Tucson. Although, fans expected it earlier, having in mind that electric Kona is one of the oldest EVs in the market. Anyway, it is a bit harder to electrify a bigger SUV and make everything better. The main purpose of hybrid drivetrains is to improve the gas mileage. But, buyers of a three-row SUV want power. Usually, the driving impression is not the same, although the specs sheet shows extra horsepower.
One of the solutions is a plug-in system. It is more expensive, but with reason. First of all, electric motors are larger and help the engine with internal combustion with more power. Also, those systems can return exceptional gas mileage, unless the setup is producing an exquisite amount of ponies. And finally, the 2024 Hyundai Palisade PHEV would be able to go by using only those electric batteries. The range is not huge, but it can be useful when the gas is on reserve.
Trim Levels
There are five trim levels available for the SUV at the moment. The newest addition is the top of the line Calligraphy package. For the new season, the company might add another configuration to refresh the lineup.
The base model is Palisade SE. The standard package includes 18-inch wheels, LED lamps, push-start button, a phone-as-a-key app, a 12.3-inch screen, navigation, and USB ports in first two rows. The seating capacity is eight.
The 2024 Hyundai Palisade SEL adds simulated leather, a hands-free liftgate, zonal climate control, wireless charging and power-adjustable seats. The seating capacity drops to seven since the captain’s bucket replaces the bench in the middle row.
The Premium package is available for the SEL version and comes with numerous upgrades. Some of them are the sunroof, large 20-inch rims, heated steering wheel wrapped in leather, premium sound system, a power outlet, and USB ports in the third row. Diver’s bucket features memory settings. The front row is heated and ventilated, while the second row comes only with heating. The safety also gets a boost with parking sensors, lane keep assist and blind-spot monitors.
The XRT upgrades the SEL with some cool-looking exterior parts, such as a sunroof, black roof rails, and skid plates. Nevertheless, the Premium bundle is more valuable. But, not as the Palisade Limited. HUD, leather upholstery, power-folding seats, and dual-pane sunroof are the notable upgrades on this one.
2024 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy
The top-of-the-range trim level should remain the 2024 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy. It starts off with the SEL trim with all the Premium Package options. Then, it adds unique upgrades, such as front grille and wheels. Inside, genuine leather maximizes comfort, and the front row also gets a massage. Unique details will make Calligraphy a luxury SUV. However, the price stays at a reasonable level. The new 2024 Palisade Calligraphy will be around $55,000. Also, with this package, you are getting interior ambient lighting, a digital display rearview mirror, a smart parking assistance system, and rear parking collision avoidance.
