It is not a secret – Infiniti is building a new QX80 on the Monograph platform. This is another big change for the full-size luxury SUV. Some fans might remember it as the QX56. The name came from its engine, a 5.6-liter V8 mill with more than 400 hp. Then, the next-gen changed the nameplate to QX80. Now, another update brings more changes. The company might drop a V8 and use a turbocharged V6. But, there won’t be name changing, and the nameplate only adds the platform’s title – the 2024 Infiniti QX80 Monograph.
We already saw this concept being used on a smaller QX60. However, the Monograph features will take full swing on the big rig. Muscular appearance, futuristic cabin, and changes under the hood make the 2024 Infiniti QX80 an SUV worth of waiting. Soon, the company will introduce the production version. We have the concept, which might not be too far away from the SUV we’ll see at dealerships. The price also goes up, and at this point, experts don’t have hints about trim levels, packages, options, and autonomous drive systems.
Monograph Concept Details
This platform brought radical changes. Although it was 5 years ago, some of the solutions still seem to be pretty refreshing. Infiniti will definitely use more of this architecture for the QX80 than they did on QX60. According to the company, this concept is bringing a totally new driving experience. The SUV will become bigger, that is for sure. Currently, the QX80 is 208 inches long. That is enough for plenty of comfort inside the cabin.
But, the first things you will spot is the new exterior styling. Designers did everything to make the Monograph concept eye-catching, but still not too futuristic for production. Aggressive and bold lines draw attention. Wheels and wheel arches are impressive, and the SUV supports 26-inch rims. Of course, that will be a high-end option. Bosses announced the styling that will make the 2024 Infiniti QX80 recognizable and unique. Well, the company needs it, especially with the new Lexus LX 600 out, and a few other full-size luxury SUVs being updated for the upcoming seasons.
2024 Infiniti QX80 New Engine
The main drivetrain for the full-size SUV was a 5.6-liter V8 mill. But, it seems that a run that lasts for 20 years is close to the end. Such an engine was the best solution for a full-size SUV. Other companies also used V8 units. But, Ford showed that a V6 can be as efficient as engines with more cylinders. So, Nissan and Infiniti might finally drop the system that creates 400 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque. It can also haul a lot and provide excellent off-road driving capabilities. The downside was the gas mileage. Buyers of expensive full-size luxury SUVs don’t care too much about consumption. But, visiting gas stations too frequently can become annoying.
So, the Japanese carmaker is preparing a solution. We don’t have details, but a turbocharged V6 is the best solution. Nissan might revisit a 3.8-liter mill we can find in the rest of the lineup. Also, a 3.0-liter twin-turbo engine can produce 400 hp for the 400Z sports car. But, we are not sure if this one can provide enough power for the big and heavy SUV. Improvements in the gas mileage segment are the priority, but the 2024 Infiniti QX80 needs to keep the driving experience of its predecessors kept at a high level.
Dimensions, Interior, Colors
The 2024 Infiniti QX80 Monograph is not all about the look. The vehicle is turning a new page in the company’s history. The SUV is already quite big, but according to reports, it is becoming even larger. On the other hand, the QX60 is slightly smaller than its predecessors. Maximum cargo space is currently 95 cu.ft. and if the SUV gets bigger, we’ll see more room inside the cockpit. Three rows are back, but one of the options is going to be captain’s chairs in the middle. That increases the comfort, as well as the price. The new palette comes with fresh colors. The premium interior will be wrapped in leather and the company will combine black, brown and beige details.
2024 Infiniti QX80 Release Date and Price
The QX80 was one of the least expensive full-size luxury SUVs with a base price of $72,000. The new 2024 Infiniti QX80 Monograph comes with a significantly higher price tag for the entry-level version. Expect the SUV at least $85,000. High-end models will cost over $100,000. That is not unusual anymore, with most rivals being already in the six-digit price realm. We expect a precise release date to be announced soon. The company might introduce the SUV early in 2023, and then launch the sales in the third or final quarter of the year.
