2024 Jeep Cherokee concept

It is unbelievable that the same generation of compact crossover is around for 10 years. Some companies are updating their rides after two or three years. Yes, Cherokee had a few facelifts, but that is still the fifth-gen model that debuted in 2014. So, it is probably the final call for the new generation. But, would it be the 2024 Jeep Cherokee or the company is about to rename the vehicle again and bring back the Jeep Liberty?

There are several reasons why the Stellantis Group could do that. One of them is the new generation, which can bring everything new, including the name. Liberty was a compact crossover that replaced the second-gen Cherokee and was in the market for 12 years (2002-2013). A ten-year run of the current small SUV is near the end. Plus, Jeep is under pressure to drop the nameplate that insults native Americans. It is not the first time that some big franchise will have to rename its products. For now, the 2024 Jeep Cherokee stands. But, we see the problems in the future.

2024 Jeep Cherokee Redesign

Although there are no clues, we expect fresh styling. The last update happened in 2019. To stay competitive, the 2024 Jeep Cherokee must add some flair and draw attention. A seven-slot grille could become bigger, and the front fascia will suffer the most changes. The size of the crossover stays the same. If the Cherokee is not entering the new generation, the same platform will underpin the vehicle. But, besides the styling changes, the small SUV needs to add a hybrid engine. So, the fresh platform could be developed to enhance the performance and makes the 2024 Cherokee more appealing at the same time.

Also, it is time to do something inside the cabin. The 2024 Jeep Cherokee stays a two-row five-seat SUV. If you need more space and seats, the Grand Cherokee is a mid-size SUV with even more powerful engines. But, buyers are picking up Cherokee because of its practicality and driving experience. It won’t change, even after the redesign, and even when the new generation hits the showrooms.

Under the Hood

A pair of four-cylinder engines will power the crossover in the US. In other markets, buyers can also find diesel plants. MultiJet configurations are with 2.0-liter and 2.2-liter units. But, let’s stick to the crossover for North America. A 2.4-liter Tigershark gasoline powertrain was the main source of power. From this point of a view, it will stay under the hood of the new 2024 Jeep Cherokee. It can produce 180 hp and 170 lb-ft, which is enough for the compact class. But, the fuel economy of 26 mpg combined is becoming non-competitive.

Another option is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-pot mill. This is the engine for the performance-oriented models thanks to 270 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. Even with such enhancement, the turbo engine returns the same range as the base engine. With front-wheel drive, the fuel economy is 23/31 mpg. The redesign can make the Cherokee lighter and enhance the mileage. The AWD takes 2 miles for every gallon. A 3.2-liter V6 won’t be an option for the 2024 Jeep Cherokee.

2024 Jeep Cherokee Hybrid

Jeeps need to catch up with the competition, especially in the compact crossover class. The new Wrangler is available with the PHEV system. The company is expanding the lineup of hybrid vehicles, but for now, we also expect the Gladiator truck with a similar plug-in system. But, the 2024 Jeep Cherokee needs to be competitive against Toyota Rav4 and Ford Escape. Both rivals can do 40+ mpg thanks to a hybrid engine. Anyway, there are no details about the such configuration and the development status. Anyway, the Stellantis group can’t miss the chance to catch up with rivals.

New Grades

The latest model introduced the new lineup. Well, not quite new, but refreshed, since all the models we see now were already available, and some of them are dropped. After the redesign, the new grades will be out. Until then, you can count on Altitude, Latitude, Trailhawk, Limited, and the new 2024 Jeep Cherokee X model.

The base package is not too impressive. Still, some highlights are 8.4-inch screen, 17-inch wheels, and power-adjustable driver’s seat. The Latitude Lux is adding leather seats, power liftgate, and dual-zone climate control. We’ll see what happens to the Cherokee X, since this model used only a V6 unit. The suspension was tuned for off-road driving.

For the toughest conditions, there is the Trailhawk model. Of course, the 4×4 is standard, as well as all-terrain tires, skid plates, and off-road suspension. The Limited grade is a premium option. Memory seats, adaptive cruise control, advanced audio system, panoramic sunroof, and automated parking are the highlights of the package that costs $42,000. Hybrid unit will be there with unique grades.
