The new generation of mid-size luxury SUVs is coming. The 2024 Lexus GX 460 has its final run since engineers are about to replace an old V8 engine. Since the number in the name suggests that is a 4.6-liter unit, the new GX is going to use a different alphanumeric code. Also, the new Lexus TX is on its way as another mid-size premium model. So, some experts go even further, claiming this one completely replaces the GX.
Those rumors are floating with some solid evidence. After the 2024 Lexus GX 460, we’ll see a new vehicle, that is for sure. The carmaker is yet to decide what it will be. Is the new badge for the GX, or the TX as the replacement? Meanwhile, Lexus won’t spend too much time and sources for improvements on the GX460. 2024 Lexus GX 460 Trim Levels and Features
Three packages are available for the current edition and all of them will be carried over for the 2024 YM. Here are a few highlights for each of them. The Base trim features LED headlights, keyless entry, simulated leather, and a 10-inch display. Right from the start, you get a unique Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System for a better off-road experience. The SUV seats up to seven persons. The latest Enform Multimedia system is installed. Navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa are there. Plus, the safety is at the top level thanks to several advanced options.
So, what’s left for upgrading? The 2024 Lexus GX 460 Premium adds three-zone automatic climate control, heated second-row seats, ventilated front buckets and automatic wipers. Optionally, you can add captain’s chairs to the middle row and decrease the seating capacity to six, or select the premium audio system by Mark Levinson.
The GX Luxury model is using a set of 19-inch wheels, self-leveling adaptive air suspension, and upgraded leather upholstery. The SUV is already capable of big off-road time. But, the Off-Road Package, makes it even more impressive thanks to the crawl control system, unique drive modes, fuel tank protection, and a surround-view camera.

All three of them are using a ladder frame. There are no doubts the company will continue to build them that way. There are pros and cons between BoF and unibody architectures, but we won’t bother you now with that. But, watching what Toyota is doing with other vehicles, we must think about the hybrid version of the new GX. A smaller, turbocharged engine can enhance the fuel economy further if the electric battery comes as a support.
We already follow news about the Land Cruiser Prado. But, there is another nameplate emerging – the Lexus TX. According to the first details, the company plans to add it as a mid-size SUV. That causes a lot of questions and the first one is – what will happen after the 2024 Lexus GX 460? The entire lineup might be replaced. We doubt the TX is going to do that with the RX, the best-selling luxury SUV in the US. Anyway, many options are open, but we still lack on details about every one of them.

Since there are no big changes on the 2024 Lexus GX 460, the SUV could be out very soon. The company focuses on the new version, so this one will debut quietly. Also, the price should stay put. The Base model starts from $59,000, the Premium adds $1,000 and the Luxury package is worth $10,000 above the initial price.
