The all-new Outlander drew attention with its fresh styling and updated interior. The performance was already there, but the carmaker decided to make changes under the hood as well. Instead of a 2.4-liter mill, a 2.5-l engine now powers the crossover. Unfortunately, there are no optional drivetrains at the moment, so we expect them for the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander. If we have to pick one model to recommend, that is the new Ralliart.
The plug-in hybrid version arrived a year later than the base version. Two vehicles are sharing the same platform, dimensions are the same, the look, but under the hood, a petrol engine gets support from a hybrid system. It should make the small SUV more competitive because of the 13-hp boost. Plus, the gas mileage adds 1 mpg for 27 mpg combined. You can choose between front- and all-wheel drive. An automatic transmission is standard all across the lineup.
2024 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Mileage and Performance
The 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is a way better option if you want to boost outputs and mileage. A 2.4-liter engine is still the main source of power for the plug-in hybrid. Another boost came last year and this system now creates 248 hp and 335 lb-ft of torque. Electric range is extended as well. The Outlander can now do 38 miles before the battery drains. The gas mileage is at the same level with the standard configuration. An all-wheel drive is coming with electric battery on each axle and a CVT transmission.
2024 Mitsubishi Outlander Ralliart and Other Grades
Mitsubishi always had cool grades and options. The Japanese company didn’t go too far with premium options. The focus was on the practicality and functionality. The base version, ES, is packed with 18-inch wheels, LED lights, cloth seats and an 8-inch infotainment screen. Highlights of the safety package are forward collision alert, blind-spot warning, parking sensors and automatic rear braking.
The SE adds fog lights, larger wheels and a power tailgate. Inside, you will find synthetic leather and heated front seats. Mitsubishi Connect services are available with the optional Convenience package. Mi-Pilot Assist adds adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assistance. The level of autonomy will be higher in 2025, according to sources from the company.
Black Edition darkens everything – wheels, bumpers and headliners. The SEL is a premium version with roof rails, leather upholstery, ambient lighting, power-adjustable seats, and many optional upgrades. You can enhance the look and comfort with the Touring bundle that features a panoramic sunroof, Bose audio, HUD and a heated steering wheel. Premium package is an ultimate upgrade with a contrasting roof color and water-resistant upholstery, perfect for an off-road drive.
The 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander Ralliart is the latest edition for the crossover. The company is bringing back the rally heritage with black hood emblem, unique graphics, mud flaps and sporty rear spoiler. The Ralliart package is also available for other crossovers – Eclipse Cross and Outlander Sport.
Trim Levels for the PHEV Model
With the plug-in hybrid, options are pretty similar. The Black Edition is not available, for example. Also, the company will drop the 40th-anniversary edition of the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Minor differences across the trim level lineup are not worthy of comparison.
Release Date and Price
Changes on the new 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander won’t be big, so there is no reason for the company to wait for the launch. A new grade or optional package is possible. That means the crossover is going to be available by the end of 2023. The price stays put, starting under $30,000 and climbing up to $45,000 with all the options selected. The PHEV system adds value. You will pay the base model $42,000, but the difference will pay off with every mile driven.
