2025 Acura RDX redesign

The 2025 Acura RDX will represent the third production year of the current generation and although it is still pretty fresh, it looks like it could receive a couple of updates. Namely, there aren’t many things to complain about the current generation, but that is still room for small improvements that could make this SUV even better. Allegedly, the next year’s model could come with slight transmission modifications, which would improve the ride quality even more. Other than that, we might see some updates regarding the standard and available equipment, while things like new color options also seem possible.

Despite the minor updates, the overall layout will remain the same. The next year’s model will continue to deliver familiar pros, and there are definitely many things to like about the current-generation MDX. This SUV offers a lot of athleticism, capable powertrain options, a spacious cabin and good interior quality.

Even though there are some possible updates, we don’t believe that the 2025 Acura RDX could arrive before the last quarter of the year.

2025 Acura RDX Powertrain and Transmission

As we’ve just mentioned, the 2025 Acura RDX might get some updates and the most anticipated ones are those in terms of transmission. Although the new 10-speed automatic gearbox is smooth and refined, it still needs a few tiny things to improve to be as great as those transmissions found in German rivals. This particularly refers to the manual mode, where shifts are a little bit slower than you would expect from a premium car. That particularly refers to the Type S version, which is the high-performance variant of the SUV.

On the other hand, we don’t expect changes in terms of engines. Base models will continue with a good-old 3.5-liter naturally-aspirated V6, which puts out around 290 horsepower, which is plenty enough for solid driving dynamics. The Type S comes with a 3.0-liter turbo V6, which puts out around 355 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. What’s also worth mentioning is that the Type S comes standard with the company’s engaging SH-AWD, while the same system is optional in base models.

The 2025 Acura RDX will represent the third production year of the generation, so it’s pretty clear that it is still early for a mid-cycle refresh. On the other hand, we won’t exclude the possibility to see minor updates, such as new color options, or maybe an appearance package. In any case, the overall styling will remain the same, as it definitely feels modern and attractive.

The mechanical aspect of the vehicle definitely won’t change. We will see the same chassis and suspension setup, which offer composed handling, along with a smooth and comfortable ride. The Type S brings suspension and brakes upgrades which, combined with the aforementioned system with torque vectoring, turn this crossover into one pretty fund SUV to drive.

Interior

For a long time, Acura models have been criticized for subpar interior quality but those days are gone. The current cabin utilizes mostly high-quality materials, while the dashboard looks elegant and modern. Also, I’m pretty sure that many buyers will appreciate the fact that there is still a good number of physical controls, which feels like a real refreshment in this digitalized era.

Besides good quality, the cabin also offers generous amounts of passenger space. The front seats aren’t just spacious, but also quite supportive. Traditionally, Acura offers an excellent driving position, while outward visibility is pretty good for a vehicle of this size. The second row also accommodates adults with ease, while the third row, although typically tight for the segment, still seems quite functional. The cargo area also offers good numbers for the class – 16.3 cubic feet of room behind the third row, 39.1 cubic feet behind the second row and 71.4 cubic feet of the total cargo volume.

Features

We already mentioned that the next year’s model could only be about minor updates and that refers to the features list as well. So, most things should remain similar to the current model, which already comes equipped fairly well. The 2025 Acura MDX should come standard with tech goodies like a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 12.3-inch infotainment screen with a touchpad controller, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa, a Wi-Fi hot spot, wireless device charging, a nine-speaker audio system, satellite radio, HD Radio, USB ports and Bluetooth, as well as with convenience features like tri-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic moonroof, a power liftgate, a universal garage door opener, proximity keyless entry and push-button start.

Among available features, expect to find goodies like navigation, additional USB ports and a 12-, 16-, or 25-speaker ELS premium audio system, as well as remote engine start, hands-free power liftgate and similar things.
