2022-2023 Infiniti SUVs Lineup Preview: Changes, New Models, Hybrid

Nissan and Infiniti made a decision to make a short break in updates in 2021 on most vehicles. Luckily for them, the COVID-19 outburst stopped the entire automotive world. The development of the new vehicles, planned for 2022, continued according to schedule, and we already have the first updates. The QX60 is based on the Monograph concept, while the QX55 is the first coupe crossover in the lineup.

Soon, we expect even more news. Fans already know that the QX80 is also going to use the Monograph concept and debut in the near future. Since Nissan Rogue came as an all-new crossover, we expect the same from the QX50. A hybrid engine should be one of the highlights. Plus, there are some comebacks in the mix, as well as the new concept vehicles that might head into production.

2022 Infiniti QX60: All-New

The 2022 Infiniti QX60 is an all-new model based on the Monograph concept. Initially, it was supposed to underpin the QX80 full-size SUV. However, a mid-size three-row vehicle is eligible to use some of the solutions the platform offers to the big rig. Aggressive styling, with bold lines, with improved interior features and options, will be enough for most buyers.

The SUV comes with the same engine as before. A 3.5-liter V6 is pretty reliable and delivers 295 hp. But, we need more from a luxury vehicle. Just for a comparison, all German carmakers are offering more powerful six-cylinder units. Plus, there is no hybrid setup. Acura and Lexus can save you a lot of fuel, while Lincoln Aviator skyrockets the output to nearly 500 horsepower. We hope that the 2023 Infiniti QX60 is going to introduce a hybrid version with more power or way better gas mileage. For Pathfinder, the company crafter a powerful unit based on a 2.5-liter supercharged engine. However, this one is not available in too many markets yet.

2023 Infiniti QX80: All-New

The new QX80 is not coming as the 2022 YM, although most experts saw it debuting. But, the QX60 stole the show. The 2023 Infiniti QX80 will also be based on the Monograph concept with even more features we had a chance to see on the prototype. Like for the mid-size SUV, the big rig will also need to revisit the drivetrain lineup. A V8 is powerful, but also big and makes the QX80 less agile. By downgrading the size to a turbocharged six-cylinder, engineers can keep power outputs, and save some fuel.

The Monograph concept debuted a few years ago, and it was obvious that Infiniti has big plans with it. The company made a break last year to update all their vehicles, and the COVID-19 outburst extended the waiting time. The 2023 Infiniti QX80 is in the final phases of development and it will be introduced early in 2022. However, the release date is not happening before the second half of the year. The price definitely goes up, and where it will start will depend on all the options and engines.

2022 Infiniti QX55: All-New

The 2022 Infiniti QX55 is a new model in the lineup. The crossover SUV is a coupe version of the QX50. Well, it also gives us some clues where the redesign of the compact luxury crossover is leading. Of course, the major difference is a sloped roof, which boasts an attractive look and aerodynamic, while taking away some rear-row headroom and cargo space.

The coupe crossover gets power from a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. It delivers 268 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. A CVT sends power to all wheels on the 2022 Infiniti QX55. Compared to the QX50, the coupe version is dropping the entry-level version and starts the offer with Luxe at $48,000. Essential and Sensory packages are also available.

2022 Infiniti QX50: Redesign

Since there is a coupe version of the crossover, we expect a similar styling on the 2022 Infiniti QX50. The redesign is about to happen at the right time – five years after the latest generation was introduced. The styling of the front fascia will be pretty similar to the QX55. We’ll see how designers are going to modify the tail. The QX50 is there to offer more room for cargo and passengers in the rear row.

Under the hood is the same 2.0-liter unit, with the same transmission and outputs. The difference is a front-wheel drive, which is a default configuration. All-wheel drive is optional for the 2022 Infiniti QX50. The pricing starts at $39,000, which is a significant saving compared to the coupe model. Still, you will get fewer options. Also, a high-end Autograph package should be back, topping all the features you can get with the QX55.

2022 Infiniti QX30: Comeback

The smallest crossover in the lineup was discontinued because of the slow sales. But, according to sources, it was a temporary pause until the company redesigns the QX30 and makes it competitive again. The all-new 2022 Infiniti QX30 is about to debut soon as the subcompact luxury crossover, which will compete with Lexus UX, Lincoln Corsair, BMW X1, Audi Q3…

A 2.0-liter turbo-four engine will be back with more than 200 horsepower. It is questionable if the company is going to deliver a hybrid engine, or some smaller displacement to make the 2022 Infiniti QX30 efficient. Again, the packages will be limited to two or three trim levels. The rumors about the comeback are still unconfirmed, so we expect official news in the next few months.

2022 Infiniti QX70: Comeback

Another comeback is on the horizon. But, this one has more sense. The 2022 Infiniti QX70 might be a mid-size luxury SUV with a coupe styling. So, basically, like the QX55 is based on the QX50, the QX70 would use a similar language as the QX60. Some say the coupe SUV could even appear as the QX65. If the 2022 Infiniti QX70 happens, the vehicle is going to use the same V6 engine as the QX60. Better aerodynamic will provide better airflow, leading to better gas mileage and acceleration.

However, a sloped roof cuts a possibility of a third row. The QX70 is going to compete with BMW X6 and Porsche Cayenne, but it needs a lot more options to take on the high-end German luxury SUVs. A hybrid engine or a more powerful petrol configuration are some of the first things Infiniti needs to do if they want to get into this exclusive company.

2022 Infiniti QX Sport Inspiration: Future Concept

Like the Monograph concept, the Infiniti QX Sport Inspiration is going to underpin future luxury crossovers and SUVs. Still, this is going to be the platform a future QX50 and QX30 might bring into production. The QX Sport Inspiration already shows some of its tweaks on the QX55, especially the coupe design. The interior is minimalistic and clean. Vehicles that will use this model in production can count on the latest features and systems. Of course, there will be a lot of modifications, outside and inside, once the QX Inspiration comes out of the factory lanes.
