SUVs are dominating the market with their versatility. When you add some luxury features and styling. there are no matches for such vehicles. Most premium brands are already in the market with their offer. However, we also expect some other big players to join the party very soon. Some of them even in 2022 and 2023.

Here is the list of new arrivals for the next few years. Concepts that could turn into production. Of course, the list is not finished. Stay tuned, we will add stories about other SUVs that might appear in 2022/2023 season. Currently, these are the best and confirmed debuts.

2022 Ferrari Purosangue

2022 Ferrari Purosangue

The star of the list, definitely. We don’t know too much about it, except it is planned for 2022. And that the Italian powerhouse will slap the price above all other SUVs in the segment. Yes, Ferrari SUV was a topic of numerous rumors in the past. Now, it has a name – Purosangue.

Chiefs of the Italian company confirmed they are ready to deliver this model in 2022. This was enough for fans and enthusiasts to start dreaming about it. But, for most, the 2022 Ferrari Purosangue will remain out of the reach with the price tag above $350,000. Still, the unique composition will draw the attention of the entire market.

2022 Ferrari Purosangue SUV Is Coming!

2023 Porsche Macan EV

Everything points towards this. Porsche is in the hybrid market already, and its Cayenne is one of the most powerful SUVs we can find. A smaller crossover, Macan, is going to take the next step – the entire electrification. Porsche will borrow the PPE architecture from Audi for the project. Soon, we will also see sports cars with the same type of drivetrain.

It is still early to talk about the final look and specs of the 2023 Porsche Macan EV. The company unveiled the production start date. It will also bring the new generation of the compact luxury SUV. On the other hand, some sources claim that CEOs are still making the final decision upon this electric vehicle. Well, the future of the automotive industry is in these types of motors.

2022 Rivian R1S

The 2022 Rivian R1S is one of the hottest concepts in the market. The new vehicle will be a rival to Tesla’s SUVs, but it will cost cheaper. That doesn’t mean the R1S is going to deliver weaker outputs. Depending on a configuration, buyers will get 400-750 hp, range up to 400 miles, and towing capacity of 7,700 lbs.

But, it’s been a while since the concept saw the light of a day. What makes us believe it will be at dealerships in 2022? We are not the only ones excited about this project. Big companies recognized the moment and started investing in 2022 Rivian R1S. For example, Amazon bought shares for $700 million, and Ford also finds this startup pretty interesting.

2022 Cadillac Escalade V

Cadillac Escalade is ready for the next generation which arrives next season. However, the company is not done with the luxury SUV yet. The performance model will join the lineup in 2022. The V model is already available for the CT6 sedan, and we are using its V8 engine as the inspiration for the SUV.

The 2022 Cadillac Escalade V will get a 4.2-liter twin-turbo configuration with more than 500 ponies under the hood. Some fans would like to see a 6.2-liter tuning from Corvette, but it is not going to happen. The lighter engine will make 2022 Escalade V more agile and a better performer. The SUV is already very expensive, and the new model will introduce it to the six-digit price realm.

2022 Land Rover Defender 80 (Baby Defender / Defender Sport)

Defender is back. The British company says this is the most capable SUV in the market. Well, that will split the opinions. But, the vehicle is here and we expect further upgrades. JLR is preparing a smaller version, called Land Rover Defender 80. Fans already gave the nickname – Baby Defender, while some experts believe the carmaker will do the same nomenclature like Range Rover/Range Rover Sport, and we will see Defender Sport.

Well, these are mostly opinions and rumors. The only thing we know is that 2022 Land Rover Defender 80 is coming. The price is going to be more affordable, probably just over $30,000. Also, the production might start earlier, since the Baby Defender is going to be based on its larger sibling. The biggest reason why everyone believes this is happening – is the rivalry with Jeep Wrangler and the upcoming Ford Bronco Sport.

2022 Aurus Komendant

The Russians are coming. Aurus is a new company that will deliver the premium SUV. Komendant is the Russian Rolls-Royce. The carmaker already delivers sedan and minivan, and it is a turn for the most popular class in the automotive industry. The 2022 Aurus Komendant is spied, but the test mule is not showing us too much. Well, the presence is enough for now.

A 4.4-liter V8 engine is confirmed. The powerplant will be a hybrid able to deliver nearly 600 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. An all-wheel drive is standard and the engine will feed axles with power through a nine-speed automatic transmission. The price of the premium vehicle is still impossible to predict.

2022 Mercedes-Benz EQA

The EQC electric model is already out and Mercedes is preparing another crossover in the EV segment. Based on the GLA Class, the EQA will be a small and agile vehicle, perfect for the city ride. The production should start in 2021, while the sales are not beginning before the first quarter of 2022. The initial price won’t be under $50,000 and higher-end packages are going to add more than $10,000 in features.

Electric battery for the EQC is producing 400 hp and makes 220 miles in a single charge. The 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQA is not going to take such a big electric motor, which will reduce outputs. Still, the lighter model might come with an extended range. With Mercedes touches inside the cockpit, MBUX infotainment, and a possible autonomous drive, the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQA will be one of the most attractive urban vehicles.

2022 Lexus LQ

Lexus is at the center of attention recently. The company has a luxury model RX, that sells like the non-premium SUVs. For a while, we are waiting for the production of the LF1 Limitless concept, and the carmaker filed for another nameplate registration – LX600. Almost unseen, the 2022 Lexus LQ platform is being developed. The new SUV will be based on the LS sedan, including architecture and engines. Still, a lot of modifications are needed for the conversion.

One thing is sure – the 2022 Lexus LQ will be the flagship model. The price will start between $80,000 and $100,000. The power will come from a hybrid system. In two years, engineers will bring something new. On the LS, a V6 unit, supported with a pair of batteries, can produce 355 hp. The LQ will get a package closer to 400 hp. F Sport is certain, and the company will include all the popular services to enhance the overall impression (Amazon Alexa, Android Auto, navigation, Apple CarPlay, wireless charging…).

2022 Cadillac Lyriq

Escalade V is not the only project General Motors is working on for the premium brand. Lyriq is the first electric concept we could hear about, even before rumors about the Hummer EV appeared. The GM has a motto “Our electric future is now”, but we will have to wait for the 2022 Cadillac Lyriq to see the first model at dealerships.

In a matter of fact, GM is serious about this. Not only Lyriq but also GMC and Hummer might deliver electric SUVs. The engine for the EV is going to deliver at least 200 miles of range. The base model will produce 250 hp and the high-end versions will pack batteries capable to burst 350 ponies. The price is premium, but no estimations are available at the moment.

2022 Genesis GV70

After GV80, Hyundai’s premium brand, Genesis, will take another step and bring one more vehicle. Or a few. However, the first one on the priority list is the 2022 Genesis GV70. The vehicle will be similar to its sibling, but it belongs to the compact class. Smaller, the GV70 is improving gas mileage and practicality for the urban drive.

According to reports, the company is already testing this model. The 2022 Genesis GV70 should compete against Audi Q5 and BMW X3 in all markets. Spy shots are showing traces of coupe design, but only at the far end of the roof. We believe the headroom at the rear row is not going to be harmed. There are no details about the powertrain, but the compact 2022 Genesis GV70 will probably use a turbo-four engine.

2022 BMW Alpina XB7

The 2022 BMW Alpina XB7 is going to be the most luxurious vehicle in the lineup. The Bavarian company initially planned it for 2021, but the high-end SUV hit the delay because of the coronavirus pandemic. The price of this model will start above $150,000 and it combine the best elements from Alpina and BMW.

A 4.4-liter V8 engine is already familiar. For the 2022 BMW Alpina XB7, it will be tuned for 615 hp and 590 lb-ft. Well, it’s been a while since the concept was introduced, so some changes are possible. However, the time is not making this output less stunning. BMW even thinks to drop the 0-60 mph acceleration under 4 seconds. Only Tesla Model X can beat the clock in this race. If the 2022 BMW Alpina XB7 manages to do that, the achievement will be even more stunning, knowing it is a full-size three-row SUV.

2022 Maybach GLS-class

The G-Class is not going to be the most exclusive and expensive SUV in the lineup. Maybach is taking the GLS full-size model and tunes it with the high-end features and options. The first thing we should know about the 2022 Maybach GLS-class is the price that exceeds $200,000.

According to reports, the SUV is going to use a V8 powerplant. Engineers will tune it to create nearly 600 ponies. Furthermore, the production of the 2022 Maybach GLS-class will be in the US, at the same plants where GLE is built (Tuscaloosa, Alabama). However, the rest of the world will also see this super-luxurious SUV. Factories in China will also make some room for the new arrivals since Mercedes sold more than 60 percent of its Maybach vehicles in this country.
