There is no way you can’t find a suitable vehicle in the 2022 Jeep SUVs and crossovers lineup. There are a few models suitable for urban cities and tight parking lots. If you want bigger machines, SUVs with V8 units will deliver it. The most exciting engine is going to burst 707 hp. A lot of speed and torque can be traded for exceptional off-road skills. This might be the trademark of the entire Jeep SUV squad.
The company also announced a few novelties. A PHEV became part of the lineup and more hybrid and plug-in configurations will come in the future. New models as well. Grand Wagoneer is here again. However, there is no wooden trim on its side. Problems with nomenclature might bring back the Liberty nameplate. Even the Patriot is possible.
2022 Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited
We’ll start the review of the 2022 Jeep SUVs and crossovers with the legendary vehicle. Wrangler is the synonym for an off-road drive. It is a two-door SUV with exceptional capabilities. Or, if you prefer size, there is a larger version, 2022 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with a four-door layout.
You will easily recognize this SUV thanks to the open-air design. Soft or hard tops are optional. Under the hood, there are four- or six-cylinder units. In 2022, the offer is expanded with the special model with a 6.4-liter V8 powerplant and 475 hp. It is Wrangler 392. Also, the Wrangler 4xe is going to deploy a plug-in system. Diesel is already an old member.
With such a wide range of choices, the price varies from $28,500 and ends up over $80,000. So, it is up to you how much money you’ll like to spend. Our recommendation for off-road adventurers is the Rubicon package, either 2- or 4-door version.
2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Grand Cherokee is the best-selling mid-size SUV. Like Wrangler, it has a lot of options, and the new one for the upcoming season is a three-row model. This one was a topic of rumors for a long time, and the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee is finally delivering it. The range ends with the most powerful unit in the 2022 Jeep SUVs and crossovers squad – the Trackhawk with the Hellcat engine and 707 hp. However, the Grand Cherokee is no longer a leader in the market, with FCA tuning the new Durango with 710 ponies.
The mid-size model starts at a reasonable price level. However, there are plenty of options available and THREE different eight-cylinder units under the hood. It all starts with a V6. Also, a 3.0-liter diesel is an option. The towing capacity is over 7,200 pounds. The SUV is also capable of off-road drive, but Wrangler is definitely a better choice. Soon, the Grand Cherokee might get a plug-in hybrid engine like its sibling.
2022 Jeep Compass
The 2022 Jeep Compass is finally becoming a relevant crossover. The redesign will make it more appealing. Spy photos are confirming info we got from our intels. Still, we don’t have details about the upgrade of the powertrain lineup. At this moment, you can bet a 2.4-liter four-pot is coming back. The Compass might become another hybrid in the 2022 Jeep SUVs and crossovers lineup.
Again, the range of trim levels will let you build a lot of different configurations. You can save money with Sport or Latitude versions. If you decide to spend extra, you might look for a premium Limited trim, or 4×4 Trailhawk. After the redesign, the price of the high-end versions will hit $35,000. The base unit is not breaching $25,000. The gas mileage is over 30 mpg on highway and hybrid should make 2022 Compass competitive with Toyota and Ford crossovers.
2022 Jeep Cherokee
There is a big question mark above the future of the 2022 Jeep Cherokee. The nameplate could be replaced, again. The Cherokee came back after two generations in production as the Liberty. The crossover is very similar to Compass and the company will make them more different in 2022. Besides that, people usually pick Cherokee because of its engine choice, which includes three units. One of them is the same 2.4-liter from Compass with 180 hp and 170 lb-ft of torque. Other options are a 2.0-liter turbo-four and a six-cylinder.
Here, we already got used to the trim levels of 2022 Jeep SUVs and crossovers. Limited is the luxury edition, Trailhawk is the 4×4 specialist, and Latitude is a valuable low-end model. The pricing starts at around $26,500. Halfway through the trim level hierarchy, a V6 and turbo-four become available. The price of these two is pretty similar. All-wheel drive is optional for all models, except Trailhawk. You will have to pay $1,500 for this upgrade.
2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer and Wagoneer
The Grand Wagoneer is the new member of the 2022 Jeep SUVs and crossover squad. We expected it in 2021, but the COVID-19 pandemic postponed the release date. As suggested, the Wagoneer is the new full-size SUV that will go against Ford Expedition, Chevy Tahoe, Nissan Armada. The Grand Wagoneer is an upscale version with high-end features. The price will start at $60,000 and the fully-loaded 2022 Grand Wagoneer will enter the six-digit cost realm.
A V8 is required to move the large SUV smoothly. Well, there are plenty of options available. A 5.7-liter eight-cylinder unit can deliver 360 hp and 390 lb-ft. A 6.4-liter is adding more than 100 ponies. All the fans expect to see the Hellcat unit as well. A 6.2-liter supercharged V8 will go over 700 horsepower. The downside – wooden trim is missing on the SUV’s side panel.
2022 Jeep Renegade
The smallest model in the 2022 Jeep SUVs and crossovers team is Renegade. This is the perfect vehicle for an urban ride and everyday commuting. Like every small crossover, the 2022 Renegade will deliver exceptional gas mileage. Still, you cannot count on the superb performance. On the other hand, the subcompact model is more potent than most rivals. A 2.4-liter is the entry-level powertrain and the Renegade will carry over a 1.3-liter turbocharged I-4 with 177 hp and 210 lb-ft.
Another good reason why to buy the small crossover is the price. It starts under $23,000. Compared to rivals, it is more expensive, but you are getting extra power. The company is not complicating too much here. Besides the entry-level model, you can choose Limited or Trailhawk. With all the upgrades, the off-road small crossover is reaching $30,000. The Renegade could be discontinued soon. Here’s why…
2022 Baby Jeep SUV
It is still a rumor. But, where there is smoke, there’s fire. It’s simple as that. Speculations about the 2022 Jeep Baby SUV started recently, and the first news drew a lot of attention. That is probably what the FCA wanted to know before making the new vehicle official. Still, there are a lot of questions about it. Our sources only confirmed this is going to be the mini version of Wrangler.
Price, release date, and engine options are still unknown. One of the small units is among favorites. An all-electric drivetrain is also an option. From what we know about its sibling, you can expect various trim levels and off-road ready package.
2022 Jeep Liberty
The main reason why we believe in the return of the Liberty to the 2022 Jeep SUVs and crossovers lineup is the name problem with Cherokee. The company might be forced to rename it. Liberty was the nameplate used in the third and fourth generation of the compact model before the FCA brought back Cherokee. So, it will be the rename and the 2022 Jeep Liberty will inherit all its pros and cons.
A four-pot engine is going to lay under the hood for sure. To spice things up, engineers might add a turbocharged setup. A V6 is definitely not an option. Further enhancements could bring hybrid or PHEV setup. The price will be around $26,000, which is where we see the Cherokee now.
2022 Jeep Patriot
Another potential comeback is on our list of 2022 Jeep SUVs and crossovers. Unlike Liberty, where we have some clues to follow and speculate, the Patriot is just a rumor. Compass is doing well in the market, but the FCA might look for a stronger presence. The Patriot is a sounding name. On the other hand, it was ended only a few years ago and there are already a couple of crossovers available at dealerships. Still, fans won’t give up hoping to see this model, which at its peak was achieving more than 100k sales.
