Everything You Need to Know Before Buying 2023 Luxury Full-Size SUVs

Everything You Need to Know Before Buying 2023 Luxury Full-Size SUVs

The market is not too big, but it will be the most interesting in 2023. Full-size luxury SUVs are more than just a ride. Those vehicles will show that you are successful and with taste. And now, many changes will be there, which makes the selection harder.

We can split the segment to US, Japanese and European carmakers. Lincoln and Cadillac are coming into the new season without big updates. But, they will face a new US-based rival – the Jeep Grand Wagoneer. Japanese representatives are in new generations. Lexus already launched the LX, while it is just a matter of time when will the Infiniti QX80 become available. Europeans were always a step ahead when it comes to luxury. Prices for Mercedes and Range Rover were always higher as well.

2023 Lexus LX 600

The all-new 2023 Lexus LX 600 replaced the LX 570 and everything on the luxury SUV is new. The company updated the styling after a long time and did a great job. Still, the LX 600 is a two-row SUV at the base form. However, that means plenty of space both for passengers and cargo. The new model is 5 inches longer than the previous version. The technology is up to date. Buyers will have more options, with a few trim levels available instead of just two- and three-row packages.

Under the hood of the 2023 Lexus LX 600 is a twin-turbo V6. The I-Force Max is also a new configuration that replaced an old and thirsty V8. We still need to wait to see what kind of performance it brings. Off-road drive is a key. The price of the new LX starts at a similar level as before. The F Sport package is available. The most expensive configurations will cost more than $125,000.

2023 Toyota Land Cruiser

Toyota needed radical cuts to make its vehicles competitive. The new generation of the Land Cruiser was highly anticipated for some while. However, the news about the discontinuation in the US stunned many fans. The speculation is not confirmed yet, but the model for 2022 is not out yet, while the sales of LX 600 have already started. We still hope that 2023 Toyota Land Cruiser will show up in the US showrooms. The company is not cutting it from production in other markets.

The 2023 Toyota Land Cruiser Series 300 is something we wanted to see a long time ago. The vehicle shares the platform with the LX 600, so it could be a good alternative. The same engine is under the hood and produces 440 hp and 580 lb-ft through a new ten-speed transmission. This should be enough to cover the performance of the larger V8 mill.

2023 Infiniti QX80 premiere

2023 Infiniti QX80

Toyota made a move, and now it is turn for Nissan and Infiniti to respond. The Monograph concept is something special, and the new 2023 Infiniti QX80 will be based on that architecture. We saw the Monograph platform underpinning the mid-size QX60. That’s not everything the company has to offer with the new architecture, and it will shine with the full-size luxury SUV.

The styling makes the 2023 Infiniti QX80 stand out. Bold and futuristic design will draw a lot of attention. The interior is even more impressive, with huge displays, advanced driver-aid and safety systems, comfortable seats, and other features. We don’t know what are the plans for the engine room. The QX80 is using a big 5.6-liter V8. It is time for the refreshment and experts believe that Nissan and Infiniti will go the same way as Toyota – replacing an eight-pot powertrain with a turbocharged six-cylinder system.

2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer

We knew the 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer will be special, but there were no rumors mentioning the full-size luxury SUV. That is exactly where the Grand Wagoneer is positioned in the lineup. Jeep missed such a vehicle, and now it can compete with Ford and GM in another segment. The SUV is quite impressive, with a big engine and advanced technology inside the cockpit. The ace upon the sleeve might be the Hellcat engine. For now, it is not in plans, but FCA can activate the development very easily.

Series I is the entry-level version and it costs just under $89,000. Series II adds $7,000 and the Obsidian is already is the six-digit price realm. With the Series III you are getting the best of the 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. If the SUV is too big and expensive, standard Jeep Wagoneer is a good alternative. A 6.4-liter engine is a power source with 470 hp.

2022 Cadillac Escalade esv

2023 Cadillac Escalade

After the arrival of the Grand Wagoneer, we expect General Motors to start building the new full-size SUV. It won’t be the 2023 Cadillac Escalade. The vehicle is going to carry over options and features, and the next version might introduce something to set a challenge to rivals. GM is in the big electrification process and we can read rumors about the Escalade IQL.

Until any of those changes happen, the 2023 Cadillac Escalade will still hang on a 6.2-liter V8 engine with 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. This is one of the most reliable SUVs in the market and buyers know to recognize the quality. Still, with the growing competition, GM will have to do something. The Escalade-V performance edition might draw attention as a limited-time offer.

2023 Lincoln Navigator

It’s the same story for Ford and Lincoln. The Blue Oval family will have to think about the next moves with the new Grand Wagoneer and Lexus LX out. For now, there are no rumors about changes on the legendary SUV. Its cousin, Aviator, got the impressive PHEV configuration, which can be carried over to the full-size luxury segment.

The Navigator is a pioneer of V6 power in the big rig class. A 3.5-liter unit delivers 450 hp and 510 lb-ft, and it made the SUV the best hauler in the class. Now, it is also available with a diesel engine. But, it won’t be enough to beat Grand Wagoneer which can haul more than 10,000 pounds. The best thing about the 2023 Lincoln Navigator will be the Black Label package, with a thematic interior. Options you can choose are Chalet, Destination and Yacht Club.

2023 Land Rover Range Rover

The 2023 Land Rover Range Rover is also out with some significant changes. Still, the British carmaker didn’t come out with big styling modifications. The Range Rover is still one of the boldest SUVs you can buy, with plenty of advanced systems and equipment. It can be also very expensive, with the high-end SV versions exceeding $200k mark.

A 4.4-liter V8 replaced an old 5.0-liter engine. Another system the new model is using is a 3.0-liter inline-six with the MHEV setup. We believe that 2023 Land Rover Range Rover is adding more options, the classic PHEV in the first place. Interesting – JLR continued to sell an old version of the SUV for the 2022 season. For the next year, be sure that the only new model is going to be available at dealerships.

2023 Mercedes GLS

It was the largest, but not the most expensive SUV in the lineup. Now, the 2023 Mercedes GLS will beat the famous G-Wagon in this segment as well. Maybach is going to treat the full-size luxury SUV with unique features and parts to make it the most exclusive SUV in the lineup. The price is going to hit $200,000. Well, the standard model will still be affordable (for buyers looking for such a vehicle).

The MSRP will start at $90,000. The 2023 Mercedes GLS also comes with the AMG package. With 600 horsepower engine, the price exceeds $130,000. There is still plenty of options between low and high ends. Like every Mercedes, the GLS comes with special German treatment. One of the highlights is the dashboard styling and advanced MBUX multimedia system.

2022 BMW X7 specs

2023 BMW X7

To compete the GLS, BMW had to deliver a full-size luxury SUV. The X7 is the latest member of the family and it didn’t disappoint. Well, the base version is using a six-cylinder engine. So, forget about the base price and move straight to the M50i version with a 4.4-liter turbo-eight powertrain. Still, there is a 200-hp gap between those two. The 2023 BMW X7 M50i cracks 525 hp and 553 lb-ft.

There is no M model available for the full-size model. Instead, BMW made a partnership with Alpina on the XB7 package. Well, it delivers all the same you would expect from the X7M. The engine is tuned to crack 613 hp, which is the best in class output. The price starts above $140,000. For this money, buyers are getting a unique vehicle.

Future models: Audi Q9, Genesis GV90, Volvo XC100
