2024 Mid-Size SUVs

Future 2024 Mid-Size SUVs Market – ALL MODELS

If you are looking for extra space in your vehicle, but still don’t want to spend a lot of money, a mid-size SUV seems like the best deal you can get. Available in two- and three-row layouts, those vehicles are the best for long trips and family journeys. The 2024 mid-size SUVs market will be interesting to watch since companies are fighting for every buyer.

We will go through all the models we expect to see at dealerships. Luxury SUVs are going to be reviewed in our next article. So, let’s go through the list.

future 2024 Mid-Size SUVs

2024 Toyota Highlander

We are starting from the leading carmaker in the crossover and SUV segment. Toyota brings innovations other companies are following. The Highlander was the first three-row SUV with a hybrid engine. Now, this setup is returning the best gas mileage. For the 2024 YM, we don’t expect huge changes. The price should start around $37,000, which is above the average for the 2024 mid-size SUVs models.

2024 Toyota 4Runner

While Highlander is coming unchanged, the next-gen 2024 Toyota 4Runner is almost ready for the debut. The big rig is becoming really old and the redesign of the 4Runner is one of the top priorities. This SUV is going to be one of the best choices if you need a vehicle for the off-road drive. The 2024 4Runner TRD Pro package is also going to be new. Expect from Toyota to raise the 4×4 game to the next level.

2024 Toyota Venza

The lineup is completed with the two-row model. Those SUVs are not as popular as seven-seaters, but the 2024 Toyota Venza is going to be one of the most interesting configurations out there. A 2.5-liter engine with a hybrid system can deliver 220 hp. The price of the Venza stays put, around $34,000. There are no notable high-end options, but you can still enhance the ride with different packages Toyota is going to offer.

2024 Nissan Murano

There are a lot of questions about its future, but the Murano SUV is going to be part of the 2024 mid-size SUVs lineup. Nissan is not giving up this class yet and in foreseeable future, the SUV could become an all-electric model based on the Ariya concept. It’s been a while since the Murano was updated, so in the next couple of seasons, designers might prepare a fresh look.

2024 Nissan Pathfinder

Pathfinder is one of the best haulers on this list. The new generation arrived in 2021, so no big changes are expected for the 2024 YM. One of the biggest downsides is the lack of a hybrid engine. Plus, the redesign didn’t make a switch from unibody to the body-on-frame architecture. Seating capacity is 8 and the Pathfinder can haul up to 6,000 pounds. That is more than enough for most owners.

2024 Chevy Traverse

The new Traverse came with a delay because of the COVID outburst. The company is not going to make any significant changes on this vehicle for the 2024 season. Anyway, the Traverse will be one of the most favorite SUVs, with a versatile offer of engines. A V8 might become an option and we are waiting to hear if the Redline edition is coming. Chevrolet doesn’t plan to add a hybrid unit. Instead, the GM is electrifying the entire lineup by 2030.

2024 Chevy Blazer

Meanwhile, the company also launched a two-row Blazer. The old nameplate came back, and ever since its re-appearance we can hear rumors about the SS performance-oriented version. It would be one of the star models for the 2024 mid-size SUVs market. Even without it, the base Blazer is more than an interesting vehicle with a turbo-four engine delivering 230 hp.

2024 GMC Acadia

Another mid-size SUV by General Motors. Acadia is an upscale version in the lineup, and the base price shows that. Denali model is top of the range trim, with plenty of advanced options. We’ll see if Acadia is going to offer the new AT4x package for off-road drive. This SUV is a mechanical twin of the Blazer, but it is available in a three-row interior layout.

2024 Ford Edge

It is not the most popular Ford SUV, so experts are questioning its future. Still, the Edge is a good two-row alternative to the much more famous Explorer. A 2.0-liter turbo-four engine is under the hood and delivers 250 hp. A 2.7-liter V6 is another option and it creates 280 hp. The 2024 Ford Edge ST is a high-performance version with 335 horsepower and a price tag between $45,000 and $50,000.

2024 Ford Explorer

Explorer made a stunning appearance with the new generation. Its hybrid unit is something that made Ford more competitive, and a step ahead of most rivals. A turbo-four is the main drivetrain. A V6 is optional, and the ST version for this SUV creates 400 horsepower. A hybrid engine is the most efficient when it comes to gas mileage. Nevertheless, fans would like to see the PHEV system Lincoln Aviator is offering. With it, the 2024 Explorer could become one of the most powerful 2024 mid-size SUVs with nearly 500 hp.

future 2024 Mid-Size SUVs

2024 Ford Bronco

Bronco is still a star of the lineup. There were no too many vehicles that drew so much attention as the comeback of this iconic SUV. Now, when it is again in the market, we are looking at what else the nameplate can offer. Raptor edition is the most anticipated version. A lot of speculations are surrounding the 2024 Bronco, but for now, the company is not confirming the off-road package. Meanwhile, Ford is working on the Raptor R edition of the F-150 truck.

2024 Dodge Durango

Hellcat engine is now part of the lineup. A V8 supercharged unit is delivering 710 hp, making the 2024 Dodge Durango the most powerful SUV in the market. Nevertheless, there are some changes for the new season. The SRT version is again exclusive for Dodge vehicles since FCA stripped this badge from the Grand Cherokee. Durango also offers a pair of other V8 engines, and a 6.4-liter plant can deliver 475 hp.

2024 Jeep Wrangler

Wrangler is not only the best off-road model in the 2024 mid-size SUVs market but also an overall vehicle for adventures. The 4xe plug-in hybrid is the biggest novelty, and by the 2024 season, the SUV might get an all-electric version called Magneto. A two-door model is a compact crossover, also great for 4×4 drive. The main source of power is a V6 mill and a turbo-four is an optional mill. Wrangler 392 was a limited version and we still don’t know if it is coming back.

2023 jeep grand cherokee trailhawk

2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The Grand Cherokee is the best-selling mid-size SUV. Now, it is available with a third row of seats. A hybrid engine is not an option, but the SUV keeps the Trackhawk edition with a supercharged V8 engine and 707 horsepower. The high-end version will cost $85,000, while the base Grand Cherokee is priced at just under $40,000. A 5.7 and 6.4 are the pair of V8 engines also available for the 2024 Grand Cherokee.

2024 Honda Pilot

The flagship model in the lineup of Japanese carmakers needs a redesign. Since there are no official details about a big update for the 2023 season, we believe that the 2024 Honda Pilot is going to be all-new. A fresh look and possibly a hybrid engine are going to draw a lot of attention as the 2015 YM did it (last time Pilot was redesigned). The price will go further up, and the Type R performance vehicle is also possible.

2023 Honda Pilot Hybrid

2024 Honda Passport

The Passport SUV is actually Pilot, just without a third row of seats. Still, the price is above the average for such a model. On the other hand, while most other two-row 2024 mid-size SUVs are using a four-pot engine, Honda Passport is taking advantage of its V6 configuration and 280 horsepower coming from a 3.5-liter displacement. EX, TrailSport and Elite are trim levels available for this SUV.

2024 Hyundai Palisade

The Palisade is the newest addition to the Hyundai’s SUV lineup. It is the largest model. The Korean company means business. Besides stepping into this segment, Hyundai also started producing luxury vehicles under the Genesis brand. Fresh styling is very aggressive. The interior is packed with a lot of advanced features, especially at higher trim levels. Under the bonnet is a 3.8-liter V6 engine with a lot of potentials.

2024 Hyundai Santa Fe

Before Palisade entered the market, Santa Fe was a three-row SUV. Now, it is a mid-size model with two rows of seats. The best thing about the SUV is its price. It is one of the rare units on this list that can be purchased under $30,000. Still, it produces only 190 hp from a naturally-aspirated four-pot mill. A 1.6-l turbo engine is an alternative. That is something we expect from any of the 2024 mid-size SUVs.

2024 Kia Telluride

Another Korean company is expanding its lineup in the US. The 2024 Kia Telluride is going to be the largest SUV by the company for a while. Starting price is under $35,000 and it comes with a 3.8-liter V6 engine. A huge infotainment screen is the highlight of the interior. Also, there is a lot of leg and headroom inside the cabin. Four trim levels are available for the Kia Telluride – LX, S, EX and SX. The company will update features and colors for the 2024 YM.

2024 Kia Sorento

Since there is a new large vehicle in the lineup, the 2024 Kia Sorento is going to be downgraded to the two-row segment. Still, this vehicle was very popular after the redesign. A hybrid engine made it more efficient. Now, there are four drivetrain configurations. Everything starts with a four-pot mill, then you can pick a turbo-four or a couple of four-cylinder engines with turbochargers and electric motors. Properly equipped, the 2024 Sorento is going to return 39 mpg.

2024 Mazda CX-9

Mazda might add the CX-90 model, but the 2024 CX-9 is still the largest vehicle in the SUV lineup. The Japanese company is also adding a six-cylinder engine, but it won’t be available for the CX-9. So, a turbo-four SkyActiv unit is going to produce 250 hp. Premium fuel is required. With regular gasoline, the engine can do only 227 hp. Although considered the upscale model, the Mazda CX-9 is not going to cost too much, starting at $37,000.

2022 Subaru Ascent engine changes

2024 Subaru Ascent

For most 2024 mid-size SUVs you need to pay extra to get a 4wd. Such setup is standard for every Subaru vehicle, including the largest SUV in the lineup – Ascent. A turbocharged flat-four (popular Boxer) plant is ready to crank 260 horsepower. We can hear rumors that a six-pot mill is possible. You can get this Subbie for $34,000. Touring is top of a range version with a $49,000 price tag. Premium and Onyx are mid-class offers.

2024 VW Atlas

If the company launches the R model, the 2024 VW Atlas will be one of the vehicles under the spotlight. However, the German carmaker is not too focused to the US market, since the brand is very popular across the world. The competition is fierce. But, it doesn’t mean that Atlas is a bad SUV. Turbo-four and a V6 are options for this model. SEL, R-Line, and 4WD are options you can pick.
