However, we cannot exclude the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer from these stories. Back in the time, Grand Wagoneer succeeded this model. Now, these two will arrive together. Wagoneer is going to be the full-size model, while the prefix Grand will be used for the extended version. We can see that in lineups of other US carmakers – Ford is delivering Expedition and Expedition MAX, while General Motors has Tahoe and Suburban as the long-body version, and Yukon and Yukon XL.
So, after the success of the Grand Cherokee, Jeep is ready to launch a true three-row SUV, larger than any other. Well, all their vehicles are very competitive in the market. One thing is not a problem for the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer – power outputs. Engineers are choosing the setup, but the big rig will definitely use both V8 units available for other vehicles. Still, the base version might get a V6 to lower the starting price. Nevertheless, this one is not going to be popular like for the Grand Cherokee.
A 5.7-liter V8 seems to be a perfect starter. With 360 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque, it provides enough power and towing capacity for a full-size SUV. An eight-speed transmission is standard all across the lineup. The towing capacity of the Wagoneer will be about 7,000 pounds with this engine. It can jump to 8,500 pounds if you pick a 6.4-liter Hemi powerplant. In this case, the power output could jump to 500 hp, if rumors come true. For Grand Cherokee, this configuration offers 475 ponies and 470 lb-ft of twist.
Finally, the Trackhawk edition might join the lineup. A 6.2-liter turbocharged Hellcat engine is capable to deliver 707 horsepower. Another option is a 3.0-liter turbodiesel with 260 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque.
2022 Jeep Wagoneer Release Date and Price
The new Wagoneer is not coming in 2021 as it was planned initially. The carmaker had to delay the premiere since the development was slowed down by the COVID-19 outburst. So, when the situation calms down, the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer is going to debut, probably in mid-2021.
