When Maserati finally introduced the Trofeo SUV, the entire market was stunned. Well, the company presented the concept a few years before the official premiere, but there were no too many fans believing in the production. Now, the 2021 Maserati Levante is ready for the update, which is likely to be delayed because of the situation with the COVID-19 virus.
Spy photos are not showing any exterior change for the new SUV. In a matter of fact, most updates will happen inside the cabin. On the other hand, spy photographers didn’t capture any image of the interior. The 2021 Maserati Levante is coming with the same engine and outputs. Only the high-end Trofeo edition might breach 600 hp. It is already one of the most powerful SUVs in the market.
The price of Levante is one of the possible dealbreakers. There is no too many buyers willing to spend $76,000 for the mid-size SUV. At this price, some full-size three-row vehicles are available. Plus, the Trofeo is getting the Maserati out of sight by adding $100,000 more to the initial cost.
Versions
The base 2021 Maserati Levante is available in four trim levels and all of them have different outputs. We will go through specs a bit later. The Base configuration is already pretty impressive with the power liftgate and leather interior. At the center of the dashboard is an 8.4-inch display. Navigation is standard. The company also includes a blind-spot monitor system and parking sensors in the base offer. Additionally, you can upgrade the offer with premium leather, panoramic sunroof, paddle shifters, or sport buckers. A special assistance package will improve safety.
The Levante S will enhance outputs and overall styling. Extra power requires bigger brakes. Some of the optional features for the base version are standard. Nevertheless, the S version will also offer additional upgrades, such as LED highlights and assist bundle.
The 2021 Maserati Levante GTS steps up with impressive outputs. But, the equipment is as stunning as the performance. For 530 hp, engineers are providing the special Sport drive mode. Plus, the interior is enhanced with rich details, mostly wood and leather accents.

2021 Maserati Levante Trofeo
The highlight of the 2021 Maserati Levante Trofeo is its power output. A 3.8-liter engine is delivering 590 horsepower and engineers could squeeze even more ponies from this V8 unit. Still, the styling and the interior of the Trofeo edition will also draw buyers. For example, if you are fan of an audio system, then Bowers & Wilkins can impress with their 17-speaker sound. Heated and ventilated seats are standard, blind-spot is included even at lower trim levels, and the 2021 Levante Trofeo also adds an adaptive cruise control
2021 Maserati Levante Engines and Specs
We’ve reached the most interesting part of the review – the performance. Right from the start, the 2021 Maserati Levante is making a statement. How couldn’t, since the company is using Ferrari’s units. The base version is equipped with a 3.0-liter V6 drivetrain capable of producing 350 horsepower and distributing them through an 8-speed auto gearbox to all wheels. The same configuration is there for the Levante S. However, in this case, the outputs go up to 430 horsepower. This version sprits0-60 mph in 5 seconds, nearly 1 second faster than the base one. Max speed is 165 mph.
Before we move to GTS and Trofeo performances, we will mention a diesel engine. There are two possible tunings available for Levante. The entry-level model can produce 250 hp, while the enhanced version bursts 25 ponies more. Oil-burner setups are not available in the US.
The GTS was the most impressive model in the lineup for some while. Instead of a V6, engineers used a 3.8-liter V8 turbo engine that delivers 530 horsepower. The max speed goes up to 180 mph while the 0-60 acceleration time drops to 4.3 seconds. The 2021 Maserati Levante Trofeo will later make it under 4 seconds. It is also one of the fastest SUVs in the market, achieving 189 mph. Total output of the system based on a 3.8 engine is 590 hp.
2021 Maserati Levante Release Date and Prices
Changes for the mid-size luxury SUV will be postponed for the 2022 season. Well, the spy photos are not showing exterior upgrades. So, designers will have extra time to deliver the fresh vehicle. Meanwhile, the 2021 Maserati Levante will be mostly unchanged. The price of the base version starts at $76,000 which is already high for the mid-size model. The S package already adds more than $10,000. The GTS is in the six-digit realm with a price tag of $126,000. Top of the lineup model, the 2021 Levante Trofeo costs $170,000.
Besides the starting price, Levante is also not favorite because of its reliability. The maintenance cost is very expensive. Plus, you will have to be patient with all the fixes since parts are not so easy to get.
