Premiere of the 2022 Honda HR-V Next-Gen Crossover

Honda is ending production of the HR-V crossover. Don’t worry, the third generation of the vehicle is on the way, based on the Vezel platform. There are already a few leaked photos available, and more rumors surround the all-new 2022 Honda HR-V. According to speculations, this crossover will be available in the US only. Well, it is hard to believe, since the popularity of the subcompact vehicle is huge all around the globe. Honda is not only going to cut the HR-V from the lineup, at least not without a replacement ready to jump in.

The second generation lasted nearly 10 years. Still, we haven’t expected the update before the redesign of the Pilot SUV. However, the 2022 Honda HR-V is going to cover a larger market. More sales, more profit. But, fans are worried about the Motortrend report, telling them that the US buyers will get the special version. On the other hand, another trusted magazine, Motor 1, says the global platform has leaked and we can expect the new crossover soon.

The concept is giving us some clues about the upcoming crossover. However, it is definitely not the final version of the 2022 YM. The company will make the premiere, but there will still be mysteries about the US model. This is about to happen on February 18, when we will get more details about the 2022 HR-V redesign.

2022 Honda HR-V Release Date

The first appearance of the new crossover is about to happen in a few days. But, the release date for dealerships is not set yet. Fans will have to wait for the second half of 2021 to order their favorite subcompact crossover. According to renderings and leaked images, it will be worth of waiting. There are no details on dimensions, but the 2022 Honda HR-V will remain an agile and quick model, perfect for young drivers and city cruising.

The price should stay under $22,000 if the Japanese carmaker wants to be competitive. The competition is tough, but there will be several upgrades to make the HR-V more attractive. The EX-L used to be the top trim level. Now, we might see some of the more luxurious packages, such as Touring, Elite, or Black Edition. Also, a hybrid engine is possible. Even heavily loaded, the price of the vehicle is not going to exceed $30,000.

Leaked Images and First Impressions

These photos are all over the internet. As you can see, it is not the final version and the crossover looks like some kind of a toy. One thing is sure – the 2022 Honda HR-V is getting a whole new styling for the third generation. We can see a trim piece between headlights. Chromed finishes would make it even more stylish. The air dam is also a new part and it is a full-width feature. Narrow lights are just above this dam.

The prototype appears without skidplates. We also can’t find roof rails and other additional parts. These should be available on higher trim levels. The middle and the rear end are more muscular. The rear glass is longer than before. It should increase the visibility and overall safety. Door handles are integrated into windows. The tailgate is creased more than ever. Details on split tail lamps are drawing attention as well.

2022 Honda HR-V Interior

Adjusted photo of the interior will show us glimpses of larger multimedia screen and control buttons. But, we don’t have clues about layout and other upgrades outside the central console. The image shows smartphone integration, so we believe the 2022 Honda HR-V will be smarter. This was one of the downsides, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto not being available at the base trim. Now, besides the most popular services, we could see the Amazon Alexa and few other addons.

Under the Hood of the New 2022 Honda HR-V

The subcompact crossover is not offering too much space for a big displacement. Also, these vehicles are there to save fuel. A 1.8-liter four-cylinder powerplant is the main source of power for the current edition. We expect it to come back with 141 hp for the 2022 Honda HR-V. In its standard configurations, this one is good for 28/34 mpg. All-wheel drive is optional and it consumes more gasoline. You don’t need premium fuel to get the best of the crossover. A CVT gearbox could be replaced next season with a nine-pace case.

The 2022 Honda HR-V Hybrid is also a hot topic. The company is considering giving a go for such a setup on the subcompact model. We don’t find too many hybrids in this segment, since most carmakers are delivering EVs. But, Honda wants to expand the lineup. CR-V Hybrid will offer 42 mpg and similar numbers are expected from its smaller sibling. On the other hand, buyers of the Pilot SUV would like to see their favorite getting a more fuel-efficient system.
