One thing is nearly clear about the 2022 Nissan Armada – it won’t get a diesel engine. The company discontinued the only big oil-burner in the US, but fans are hoping for the comeback. Not impossible, especially having in mind that other carmakers are also bringing diesel SUVs. A 5.6-liter V8 should remain the main source of power, although a twin-turbo configuration could join the lineup. Is that enough for the Armada Nismo?
2022 Nissan Armada Specs
So, under the hood of the 2022 Nissan Armada buyers will find a 5.6-liter V8 engine. This is a reliable unit, capable of delivering 400 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque. Massive output makes the SUV a perfect vehicle for off-roading. A huge gap under the body also allows you to drive Armada over big obstacles. Currently, the SUV is 9 inches above the ground, and the redesign might lift it to 10 inches of ground clearance. The bad thing about the huge displacement is a high consumption. The thirsty engine is returning only 15 mpg combined. Even the fuel-saving technologies can’t help too much here due to Armada’s size and weight.
What Could Replace a V8?
There is a lot of talk about the possible replacement for the existing engine. Let’s get this straight – the full-size SUV needs such a drivetrain. Power is more important than gas mileage. Even if Armada doesn’t offer the Warrior package, we might see it in Pro-4X form. The carmaker is expanding the lineup of off-road specialists to the non-US Navara truck. The SUV would be the first model outside the truck class to wear this bundle.

The MSRP of the 2022 Nissan Armada has some space to go up compared to the current level. Well, all carmakers are making full-size SUVs more expensive. But Armada is one of the most affordable versions at dealerships. It still sits under $50,000, but the redesign will probably change it. Do not be surprised if the offer starts at $49,990.
The high-end price depends on the options we see. There are a lot of possibilities and the MSRP of Warrior or Nismo model might be over $75,000. Premium Infiniti QX80 will start at $80,000.
