2022 Nissan Armada Redesign Details

The 2022 Nissan Armada is still going to be the largest SUV in the lineup. Rumors about the redesign are not clear yet. The vehicle is ready for the new look, but there are other priorities for the Japanese company at this moment. Rogue is coming next year and it seems the Infiniti lineup is coming completely renewed. However, Armada is closely connected to Patrol SUV, which is one of the most popular big rigs outside the US. A pair will share the destiny when it comes to the redesign and the new generation.

One thing is nearly clear about the 2022 Nissan Armada – it won’t get a diesel engine. The company discontinued the only big oil-burner in the US, but fans are hoping for the comeback. Not impossible, especially having in mind that other carmakers are also bringing diesel SUVs. A 5.6-liter V8 should remain the main source of power, although a twin-turbo configuration could join the lineup. Is that enough for the Armada Nismo?

2022 Nissan Armada Specs

So, under the hood of the 2022 Nissan Armada buyers will find a 5.6-liter V8 engine. This is a reliable unit, capable of delivering 400 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque. Massive output makes the SUV a perfect vehicle for off-roading. A huge gap under the body also allows you to drive Armada over big obstacles. Currently, the SUV is 9 inches above the ground, and the redesign might lift it to 10 inches of ground clearance. The bad thing about the huge displacement is a high consumption. The thirsty engine is returning only 15 mpg combined. Even the fuel-saving technologies can’t help too much here due to Armada’s size and weight.

What Could Replace a V8?

There is a lot of talk about the possible replacement for the existing engine. Let’s get this straight – the full-size SUV needs such a drivetrain. Power is more important than gas mileage. But, Ford is already using a turbo-six, while Toyota is also downsizing its V8. The 2022 Nissan Armada might also get a smaller and more efficient displacement. But, the company is not going to sacrifice too much power. Turbocharged system might help. Both V6 and V8 are options. But, we see no replacement in the existing lineups.

On the other hand, we have to think about greener solutions. Hybrids and EVs will overtake the market in the next few years. However, the evolution is not at advanced level to cover capability losses to earn a better fuel economy. Also, electric-supported mills are more expensive.

We are trying to figure out why did Nissan discontinue a diesel unit on the Titan XD truck. A 5.0-liter displacement was a great choice for towing and many saw it as the next unit for the 2022 Nissan Armada. But, it is now questionable, since the Japanese carmaker cut it from the lineup. According to reliable sources, comeback is not an option. Pity. With 330 hp and 555 lb-ft, the new Armada would be definitely more interesting than Chevy Tahoe and Suburban with diesel engines.

2022 Nissan Armada changes

2022 Nissan Armada Nismo, Warrior

Some of the most exciting upgrades for the 2022 Nissan Armada might be Nismo or Warrior. The first one is the performance-oriented package, but we don’t see some high-output specs engine replacing a V8. Well, that is the first step, but the company could make the SUV more aggressive by adding cool features around the body and inside the cockpit. Nevertheless, the Nismo is currently available on smaller cars and it is not likely to see it on a big rig.

On the other hand, the Warrior concept was presented as an upgrade for the Titan truck. Since the 2022 Armada is going to be based on this vehicle, we could see both models wearing an armor. The concept looks eye-catching, but the bad thing is its age. It debuted five years ago and we are still waiting for its production. Even if Armada doesn’t offer the Warrior package, we might see it in Pro-4X form. The carmaker is expanding the lineup of off-road specialists to the non-US Navara truck. The SUV would be the first model outside the truck class to wear this bundle.

2022 Nissan Armada Release Date and Price

The MSRP of the 2022 Nissan Armada has some space to go up compared to the current level. Well, all carmakers are making full-size SUVs more expensive. But Armada is one of the most affordable versions at dealerships. It still sits under $50,000, but the redesign will probably change it. Do not be surprised if the offer starts at $49,990.

The high-end price depends on the options we see. There are a lot of possibilities and the MSRP of Warrior or Nismo model might be over $75,000. Premium Infiniti QX80 will start at $80,000. Standard packages will be carried over, and the Midnight Edition was one of the coolest and the most affordable additions you could get for your Nissans.
