2024 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport First Review

If you take a look at North American and especially European markets, most buyers are into crossovers. Things are a bit different in Australia and Southeast Asia, where people are still looking for simple SUVs, like truck-based machines that drive on an old-style body-on-frame platform. There are still numerous models of this type on the market and the 2024 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is one of them. Created on the Mitsubishi L200/Triton pickup, it competes in the segment of mid-size SUVs, where some of the key competitors are models like Toyota Fortuner, Ford Everest etc. The next year shouldn’t bring any more significant changes, so it is expected the 2023 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport to be seen with familiar design and characteristics.

All things considered, we can count on a genuine SUV, which still has countless things it offers, regardless of its being without change since 2015. People like its sharp nature and durable off-road capabilities. Moreover, the engines are very resourceful, whereas the suspension setup also offers pretty good on-road ride quality. The cabin is comfy, practical and roomy, so it could be said there are no major disadvantages in the case of Pajero Sport.

The lack of innovations also means that we should expect it at the usual time of year, sometime in the last quarter of 2022.

2023 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Design

As already mentioned, the existing generation has been around since 2015 and nothing much has changed since then. The general design is mainly the same. However, we should make indication to the visual modernization from a couple of years ago. The styling closely follows the aesthetics of the pickup truck and that’s mostly easy to spot at the front. There are no too many differences between the 2024 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and the standard Pajero. Then again, the complete shape comes in a classic wagon arrangement. Dimensions offer a good balance among interior space and off-road potential.

The sturdy connection with the L200/Triton can be perceived from many sides. Still, there are also some important differences. The suspension arrangement is a textbook example. The front axle is basically the same, the rear end is totally different. While the truck arises with good-old leaf springs, the Pajero Sport comes with free rear suspension, which delivers meaningfully better ride quality.

Bearing in mind that the contemporary generation is expected to endure in production for a few more years, we are pretty certain that the 2023 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport won’t derive with various changes. Nevertheless, we won’t eliminate the option of novelties in terms of new appearance packages. For instance, the 2022 model came with the new GSR version, with lots of high-class styling details. Thus, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see something alike in the next year as well.

Interior

The existing cabin looks lovely, despite the period. On the other hand, it is a truck-based SUV, which puts functionality over aesthetics. For that reason, the dashboard doesn’t look as glitzy as you would assume from a modern crossover. Most materials are firm to the touch but then again, everything seems great solid and very long-lasting. Correspondingly, it’s worth stating that the cabin comes full with a lot of standard equipment. All models originate standard with an 8-inch infotainment screen, as well as with standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Besides, the list of standard equipment also contains goodies like push-button, parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, forward collision mitigation etc.
