2024 Nissan Armada New Generation Unwrapping

The biggest SUV in the family is being redesigned. We expected to see the new Armada earlier, but now the company is forced to this move. Rivals updated their big rigs. So, if the Japanese carmaker wants the 2024 Nissan Armada be competitive, massive changes should be done.

Well, the good thing is that designers and engineers are not starting from scraps. The all-new Armada would probably debut already if there was no pandemic. Nissan updated many other vehicles and now it is turned for the biggest models. Before we see the new 2024 Nissan Armada, the carmaker will launch the premium Infiniti QX80. Those two SUVs are sharing the platform, but it is not guaranteed for the future. The Monograph concept underpins the QX80, which is about to debut next season with the updated architecture.

The 2024 Armada definitely needs a lot of changes to stay in the game. Also, Nissan will have to do something with the Titan, the truck that uses the same concept as the SUV. For now, we don’t have too many details. But, changes on one vehicle will lead to the same modifications on other mentioned vehicles.

New Platform

The SUV is all-new and that includes the architecture. Nissan introduced the Monograph concept for the Infiniti QX80 and some parts of it can already be found on the smaller QX60. The first impressions are positive, although we haven’t seen the full potential. The 2024 Nissan Armada is going to use some solutions, but the Monograph concept is mainly there for luxury SUVs. We are also following the news about Armada’s sibling Patrol, the vehicle unavailable for purchase in the US. It is very popular in Pacific Asia, and reports from there indicate that the new model could be out as 2023 YM.

The 2024 Armada might be slightly larger than before. It will affect all other segments – including handling, gas mileage, interior room, price… Anyway, that is a trend in the full-size SUV class. If the Armada is too big, Pathfinder is an alternative, but with downgraded performance and size. A more aesthetic look, in the combination with the new engine, should fix the main downside of the current SUV – the fuel economy.

Inside the cockpit there is a room for eight passengers. Through optional changes, you can take captain’s chairs in the middle row, turning the Armada into a seven-seater. That choice will be carried over to the 2024 YM. The full-size SUV already offers plenty of space. Increase of the overall size will make the ride more comfortable. If you don’t need three rows of seats, it can be folded, providing more room for cargo.

The company also has to work on the infotainment system. Frequent updates are making NissanConnect in touch with the latest trends and systems. But, the all-new system is required to stay competitive. The focus should be on driver and features that can make a ride easier and more convenient. Of course, smartphone connectivity is the priority. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are already there.

2024 Nissan Armada V6 Engine

Still, the most important change for the 2024 Nissan Armada is happening under the hood. The SUV is getting a V6 engine. For a long time, full-size SUVs couldn’t be imagined without huge V8 mills. Nowadays, turbochargers are pushing the limits of smaller blocks. So, a twin-turbo system around a V6 engine can deliver similar or equal performance, sometimes even better. Toyota and Ford are already taking advantage of such setups, and Nissan doesn’t want to be late for this bandwagon.

Outputs and details are not available yet. A turbo system is about to make even more power than the V8, currently rated at 400 hp and 415 lb-ft. A kind of hybrid system could be deployed to improve the gas mileage. A V8 is very thirsty and that is a big downside. A V6 is going to improve the fuel economy, but don’t expect miracles. The 2024 Armada is a huge and heavy SUV, even if the redesign saves some weight.

2024 Nissan Armada Release Date and Price

More details will be available once the 2024 Nissan Armada becomes official. So far, we can only guess things about the redesign and the new generation. Let’s assume that Nissan is not going to change the usual timing for releases, and that the new Armada is going to show up in mid-2023. The price goes up, that is the safest bet for new vehicles. Now, the 2024 Armada is not going to cost under $55,000. High-end versions will be Limited and Platinum. Those packages can add $20,000 in features. The Nismo version is not an option. If the Titan truck introduces the Warrior model, we can also expect it for the SUV.
