Redesigned 2024 Cadillac XT6 Ready for the Production, Including EV Model

Bosses of the General Motors company announced three new electric vehicles for the 2024 season. It didn’t take too long before we found out which one is the first. The 2024 Cadillac XT6 will lead the way, while there are many rumors about the other two. Plus, Cadillac registered a few trademarks, including Ascendiq, Vistiq and Lumistiq. Also, the IQL is closely related to the big Escalade SUV.

Ever since GM announced the slogan “Our electric future is NOW”, the company is not stopping with announcements and exclusive news. We already have Lyriq and Hummer EUT. Next year, the 2024 Cadillac XT6 EV joins the party. By 2030, the entire fleet will be electrified. Nevertheless, the mid-size luxury SUV will also get a redesigned version with an internal combustion engine. A turbo-four and a V6 are the options for the current model. The XT6 is not available with a hybrid system.

The first prototypes are already caught and fans believe that photographers took snaps of the 2024 Cadillac XT6. But, it is hard to say because of the camo. Dimensions fit, and it seems like the company is testing an electric vehicle. With so many names registered at USPTO, it can be any of the new models. The size of the test mule is similar to the XT6 and there are no doubts a three-row layout is there. Also, the front fascia is all-new. Details unveil similarities with the Lyriq, which is not unexpected. All EVs will follow a similar design language. Nevertheless, most of the body is under camouflage panels, hiding many novelties and solutions that will make the SUV better.

Standard Engines vs EVs

Although the company is testing an EV, the 2024 Cadillac XT6 will still carry on with the internal combustion engines. There are two options already available for the mid-size SUV. A turbo-four is an underachiever with 237 horsepower. This is not enough for a regular three-row SUV, and especially not for the premium segment. Even a bigger V6 is not able to make an impression with 310 hp and 271 lb-ft. Just as the comparison – German carmakers build their SUVs of the same size with 600+ hp at the high end. The luxury segment is not just about the equipment, but also the performance. That is the biggest downside of the XT6.

An alternative could be some kind of a turbocharged V6 with 350-400 horsepower. However, no SUV in the GM family is using something like that. More potent than V6 is a V8, but those are going into history books soon, so it would be a short-term solution.

General Motors is not into the hybrid world. So, many experts were doubtful when the company announced big electrification plans. But, so far, it seems GM meant business. The first units are already out, and there are more to come. The 2024 Cadillac XT6 is one of three models arriving next year. Test mules are already on the streets, so the SUV might get the electric version pretty soon. We don’t have specs and details, but the XT6 will be both similar to the Lyriq, but yet very different.

When Will 2024 Cadillac XT6 Come Out?

Spy shots are there, and test mules are there, so the release date is close. The vehicle is in the final stages of development and the company will speed up the process to catch the competition unguarded. But, with those images out, other companies will be on alert, if they are not already. Anyway, the EV is not entering production so soon. The electric 2024 Cadillac XT6 will be just a concept that will show us what to expect from the official product that will be available at dealerships.

On the other hand, the standard SUV might be out already in the second half of 2023. The redesign is going according to plan. The luxury SUV is priced just under $50,000, and the new one will leap over this barrier. Anyway, we feel the XT6 is a bit expensive, compared to the competition, especially because of the poor four-cylinder engine. Even with a V6, the configuration is not impressive and the price continues to rise. The V-Series package might be a cool upgrade, but experts are confident that Cadillac won’t offer it for the mid-size three-row SUV.
