There is a new model in the Jeep’s lineup. The Stelantis group had a big premiere a few days ago, where a couple of new electric vehicles were introduced. Those are the Wagoneer S and the Recon. While the first one carries a familiar name, the second SUV came by surprise. The 2024 Jeep Recon is an off-road model with styling that reminds us of the Wrangler. Well, the Magneto concept is the platform for the EV version of the legendary SUV, but we still don’t know if the company decided to go out with a new nameplate.
At the premiere, the 2024 Jeep Recon had a power rooftop and removable doors. That feature is available only for the Ford Bronco. We also saw the iconic seven-slot grille with illumination, BFGoodrich tires, and the two-row interior layout. Nevertheless, there is still plenty of missing details. The price is going to depend on the size of the electric battery powering the SUV. But, it is cool to know that Jeep and the family are ready to join the EV party. Besides the Recon, we also saw an all-electric Wagoneer S. This is a full-size luxury SUV with an electric drivetrain.
Expectations
The 2024 Jeep Recon is a mid-size SUV with an electric powerplant. Those are the only things we can say that will definitely happen. On the other hand, all other stuff is unpredictable. For example, experts believe that the price will start at around $60,000. But, it heavily depends on the electric motor size. There are no doubts the new Recon found inspiration in Wrangler. Its debut raises questions about the Magneto concept. Anyway, we will find out more once production starts. Pre-orders and reservations are open. However, the price and release date are still a mystery.
Pricing Estimation, Packages, 2024 Jeep Recon Rubicon
Experts took a few facts before determining the approximate price of the upcoming EV. First of all, let’s say it is an electric version of the Wrangler. All the technology the SUV is going to use is more expensive. So, they expect the entry-level version to be priced around $55,000. It seems reasonable, especially having in mind the 2024 Jeep Recon will be ready for some off-road duties.
Another question is what kind of packages to expect. Well, the Wagoneer SUV is relatively new and it introduced different grades. Still, we got used to some packages and the Recon could take some of those from the Wrangler, to get closer to the SUV with an internal combustion engine. We are looking forward to seeing Sahara and Rubicon versions. If you want to go off-road, those are the best packages. Also, the Trailhawk could be there. Trackhawk is the performance-oriented lineup. This badge could be carried by the two- or three-motor configurations. Nevertheless, this is another wild guess with limited sources of info from the company. However, high-end versions of the 2024 Jeep Recon will cost over $80k.
2024 Jeep Recon Release Date
The SUV is still a concept model. A good thing is that the new vehicle had an official premiere, so we moved a bit from speculations without foundation. According to the plan of Stelantis group, owner of the Jeep brand, the production will start early next year. The company means business since pre-orders are already launched.
Competition
Being based on the Wrangler, the 2024 Jeep Recon will compete with electric versions of the legendary SUV’s rivals. For example, the Mach-E is Ford’s electric SUV. However, it is not totally based on the Bronco. But, according to expectations, it is happening pretty soon. From General Motors we already have the Hummer truck and SUV with electric drivetrains. Toyota recently presented the Tacoma EV. There are no doubts that the next-gen 4Runner will take the battery as its alternative source of power.
