2022 Chevy Trax Review: What’s New, Price Updates

The American car industry could make a breakthrough as the main dealer for many car brands. The Chevrolet will be able to offer some changes in upcoming models, but not for the new 2022 Chevy Trax. Related to its predecessor, we believe that a better trim option and engine upgrade will make a good combo for all future buyers. Although there is no info about hybrid, experts don’t believe it is going to happen. General Motors is launching Chevy Bolt all-electric small crossover, which will be the most efficient and the fuel-friendliest unit in the lineup.

The subcompact segment is in the focus for the GM. Well, they refreshed the lineup with the new Chevrolet Trailblazer, and if anything important happens, that will be in this lineup. Some say the SS model could appear soon. This leaves less space for the 2022 Chevy Trax upgrades. Well, another trim level would do the job for this quite old crossover. For now, we can get only LS and LT. The equipment is nice and the price is reasonable.

Redesign or Replacement?

The Trax is out there since 2013. For such a vehicle, this is a long period without significant changes. Well, revisits and facelifts can update the offer, but other companies are launching improved generations of their vehicles. With the arrival of the Trailblazer, it is obvious that engineers and designers won’t pay too much attention to the 2022 Chevy Trax. But, what happens next? Will the GM still stick to this model?

Experts doubt in it. General Motors can take the same path as its archrivals, Ford. EcoSport is counting down its days in the market, with a few options ready to jump in and replace it. We see no substitute on the horizon. But, GM could surprise us with novelties soon. Electric Bolt is under the spotlight for now.

2022 Chevy Trax Specs

Under the bonnet of the 2022 Chevy Trax remains a 1.4-liter engine. Thanks to turbocharging, it can deliver 138 horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque. It is not a stunning result, but if you are looking for more, then a larger crossover is a better option. This is one of the reasons why Trax is going to be so affordable. The front-wheel drive system is getting power through a six-speed auto gearbox. Combined, the crossover returns 28 mpg, while on highways it hits 31 mpg. All-wheel drive is optional and it consumes nearly 10 percent more fuel (24/29 mpg).

Lack of options is one of the big downsides of the 2022 Trax. Another drivetrain would draw more buyers for sure. Experts are mentioning a hybrid unit, but it is unlikely to happen. Such setups are not too popular among fans of subcompact crossovers. Besides that, an all-electric Bolt is on the way. A more potent engine is something worthy of a shot. But, it won’t exceed 200 ponies. Could it be Trax SS? Well, not so likely, but kind of. Also, an off-road version would require specific upgrades in the drivetrain area.

Packages, Colors

Only two trim levels are there for sure. LS and LT are old members of the squad. The base version comes with a seven-inch screen and Wi-Fi. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard. Unfortunately, there is no zonal air conditioning. Other highlights are halogen headlamps, cloth seats, and 16-inch wheels. The 2022 Chevrolet Trax adds cruise control, remote start, leatherette seats, and LED DRLs. Cruise Control is the centerpiece of the driver’s aid package. Skid plates are painted in silver color. Heated outside mirrors are also added.

Eight exterior colors are available. Those are Midnight Blue Metallic, Silver Ice Metallic, Summit White, Mosaic Black Metallic, Crimson Metallic, Black Cherry Metallic, Stone Gray Metallic, and Shadow Gray Metallic. Inside, you can either pick Jet Black, or the combination with Light Ash Gray. Premium Iridescent Pearl Tricoat is available with the LT version for $650. Leather replaces cloth, while color combinations for the 2022 Chevy Trax interior are the same.
