The new project by Infiniti is coming. The Japanese company introduced the QX55 to the coupe-SUV segment. The 2024 Infiniti QX65 is another, bigger vehicle, according to the expectations of fans, enthusiasts and experts. The carmaker registered the trademark and the next step is the premiere of the concept. We assume that the 2024 YM won’t hit showrooms, but the new SUV will definitely come out next year.
The 2024 Infiniti QX65 is somehow under the radar because of the arrival of the next-gen QX80. Not to waste too much money on two separate projects, the company will probably use similar design cues and the QX65 could borrow some of the cool solutions the Monograph concept is offering. For now, everything is still the future project in the initial phases of development. Infiniti is going to speed it up once the trademark is officially claimed.
QX55 and QX65
Coupe SUV class is something that totally different from the classic body style. These types of vehicles are sweeping the competition with their versatility. Comfort and cargo space were some of the keys in the process. A more aggressive look has its cost – the headroom is not so generous and coupe SUVs can’t take too big items. The look is more appealing, but that is not something that sells those vehicles in high volumes. If the QX55 was a test, let’s assume it was passed since another coupe model is on the way. The QX55 is positioned between QX50 and QX60. It is logical that the 2024 Infiniti QX65 is going to be based on the mid-size SUV. As a premium model, it will take on the BMW X6 and Porsche Cayenne, the two most popular names in this class.
The QX65 is sharing the idea with the QX55, but it is a significantly larger vehicle. That means more space inside and more power under the hood. The slopped roof will be something you can notice on both vehicles, but besides that, the designs are totally different.

One of the things the 2024 Infiniti QX65 is going to share with the QX60 is the engine. The mid-size vehicle was redesigned, but engineers had no too much work. A V6 is a carry-over with 295 hp and 270 lb-ft. Those are not bad outputs for the non-premium class, but the QX65 needs to make an impression both with styling and performance. Nearly 300 horsepower is not bad, but if we compare it to the BMW X6, there is a huge gap. Germans make their SUV produce more than 600 hp in the high-end setup.

The trend in the automotive industry is a bit late for the company that was a record holder for the most electric vehicles sold. The LEAF had no big competition. Nowadays, when more carmakers are using cleaner power, Nissan and Infiniti are a bit behind its rivals. Some while ago, it was hard to find a big SUV with a hybrid drivetrain. Today, it is one of the priorities.
Instead of a predictable V6 petrol configuration, the 2024 Infiniti QX65 might be a hybrid-only vehicle. That would be a big move that can be potentially really fruitful. Still, there are a lot of pros and especially cons against this idea. It is a gamble and the company needs to invest quite a lot before the QX65 hits the showrooms. Those funds could be used for some guaranteed profit. On the other hand, Infiniti could follow the example of Ford Maverick.
